Hi Ladies, Have any of you experienced on and off dry mouth with unpredictable change in breath ordor. I have noticed this happening to me at random times. I just turned 47 and up until 3 months ago, I felt fine. I swear it all hit at the same time, late periods, achiness, severe anxiety and terrible digestive upsets on an almost daily basis. I feel instead of turning 47 I just turned 77 like overnight! Whats going on??

Ivy is it more of a strange taste your mouth?
Seems to be what I am having! I read it can be a metal type taste. This is a new symtpom for me. So bad the last week I loaded up on Tic Tac's at the grocery store! That was a fun trip, Pads & Tic Tac's!
Yep peri can be swift and devastating!

i've had unpredictable episodes of dry mouth (no breath odor changes, but maybe that's because the body odor changes have been so nasty). this can be a peri symptom as can gum tenderness, which i have also had on & off (mine bled as well & became inflammed). since these can also be indicators of other issues, i did have stuff checked out by both the dentist & doctor. there is an over the counter gum that helps apparently with the problem (biotene?).

sorry you've been hit by the peri truck. mine has been a gradual process, but now it runs me over on a daily basis. & you're right about the 47-77. i turned 44 this month & i swear i didn't know that 44 is the new 84 & the old 14.

good luck - you'll find help & support here.

Yep, the 1st time it really hit me is when I went for my semi annual teeth cleaning. The hygenist remarked on how terribly dry I was. (almost didn't even need that saliva sucker thing in my mouth lol!!). After that I started asking around and it was my physical therapist that told me that the mucous membranes are also affected by our hormones. I do notice that there are times of the month that no matter how much I drink, or what I do, I am dry. When you are dry, the change in the mouth is also noticable, perhaps becuase the bacteria dosen't wash away as normal(?). I have over the counter mouth hydrants etc, but that dosen't help either. I'm having fun...are you??!?
Try lots of gum and anything to chew (even horrible sour candies that the children love) That stimulates my saliva glands just by looking at them.
Girlsmom...45, somedays 35 other days...don't want to think about it.

Hi Girlsmom, it kind of comes and goes, sort of like everything else these days, my mind, period, etc. I think it has something to do with the anxiety too, beause than i get nervous and i notice the dryness starts. Im still wondering where the old me went. Today i went to the healthfood store and got slippery elm, its like a sucking candy made with slippery elm bark. Its very helpful. Also, i bought some biotene mouthwash. I think its worse at night, i wake up in the middle of the night with anxiety and my mouth is so dry its unbelievable. This whole peri thing is totally shocking!!
