Is there any side effects when you stop taking estrogen.  At 63 yrs of age the Dr. put me on estrogen and I became bloated, slight headhead and started spotting.  Spotted for 2 months and the Dr. told me not to worry...I worried and stopped taking the pill.  What can happen?

Hi Mary, Seems to me just taking it for 2 months shouldn't leave you with many , if any side effects. I was going to take estrogen , but decided against it. I am feeling ok and don't want to rock the boat. I'm sure you will be fine. Why did he put you on estrogen in the first place? Some just do because it is suppose to help you have a better heart and bones. I have been reading alot about it and am not so sure anymore. /anyway, let us hear how you are doing ,hugs, jeanne

Thanks Jeanie.  The doctor said that I was dry on the outside (skin) as well on the inside.  Also to help with the bones and muscles.  I started with one type of patch, then other kind, then Premarin and finally with CliAne.  All of it was awful.  Now I read that Soy is better for us than the chemical estrogen.  Thanks again.

Mary, Hi!!I was on premarin for years before side effects from withdrawals, became an issue!!Two months, is not a problem, in my humble opinion!wink.gif

It's takes 3-4 months for it to come to it's full effect in your body.....therefore, you haven't been on it long enough, to do harm, by stopping it!!

You should be fine my friend....take care and Godspeed!!smile.gif
