It seems my pms is *Post*ms. My headache starts during my period...2nd day or so and last for 3 or 4 day after my period stops. I know I am extremely tense in my shoulders and upper back, went for a massage yesterday (granted, not a good one) and woke up Today with the same dull aching head. I find I am also more tired after my period as apposed to before at the moment. Any correlation? I just can't figure this all out. I know about a year or 2 ago I also seemed to have the hardest time after my period rather than before.
Anyone else notice or have this fluctuation? BTW, no excuse for being tired, my twins are away for a week and I only have my oldest Daughter home...it's vacation, bad time to feel tired.
Thanks all!!!!!!

Hi, yes, speaking from one who never, ever had headaches - They are now monthly occurences. I've been tracking every month this year and find that a headache (sometimes migraine) hits exactly five days prior to to my period. Then it's like someone pulls the plug on my energy, and I am blah for at least three days. And low and behold day 6 or 7 of the new cycle; Headache. Track your days each month and see if you see a pattern.

I can relate to your off-kilter symptoms. I rarely get headaches, but whenever I have it's been a day or two before my period starts. This month, however, I'm in day eight of my cycle, and a headache has hit me today. Not painful, just annoying enough to make me want to lay down and not do anything. But this month has been strange anyways. I often get sore breasts and uneasiness the week prior to my period, but his month, those symptoms didn't arrive until about day two of my period. So I'm out of sorts this month. Just when you get used to things happening at a particular time, something throws off the whole schedule. Gosh, I love having this board to come to....thanks, Dearest.

I think it may even be related to ovulation. I am starting to ovulate today and have the stupid dull headache to go with it. Going to get my girls to bed early with luck and jump into a whirlpool...I need to warm up. Aren't we supposed to be our warmest during ovulation? Can't figure this stuff out anymore..Yep, off kilter for sure!

YES. ME too!! I always get a monthy headache/migraine, but am in the middle of something awful right now. Migraine is gone but head muscles still feel tight, but the insides feel mushy. Has happened on occasion before, but very bad this time. No idea what to do (massage and acupuncture have only helped a little). Have had extra nause too. This shows up more a couple times during the month, but no doesn't want to leave.

My cycle has been getting shorter and this one started really early and stopped a couple days early too. Have been feeling awful since this period started, but can't quite shake it.

I also have been feeling my monthly sypmtoms tripping over each other...no rhyme or reason anymore. Also used to have one good week a month, which has gone down to a day if I'm lucky.

Going to doc again tomorrow to see if there is anything I can get to stop this super spazz which hasn't been this bad since March (the first super spazz).

Thanks also for letting me vent!

Hi jdog!
Funny, I just did a search on headaches and ovulation (mine comes about 1 week after the start of my period) and it says that it is the *same* headache as in pms. It is from a surge or was it lack of, estrogen. Either way, it is most surely hormone. I also get horribly cramp and stiff. As a matter of fact, I'm waiting for my teenage daughter to finish her hour long shower so I can wait for some hot water and take a whirlpool. I am so achey right now. It could very well all be gone by tomorrow if I am lucky. Wierd isn't it!?!

Weird for sure!!! Thanks, so Estrogen, eh? I'm still trying to piece what may be affecting what and when. Had a saliva test done a couple years ago and it showed my progesterone was spazzy, but who knows what is happening now. Had a blood tests recently and of course everything came back normal. Realized they were also done at the time of day when things calm down. Still looking for the right combo of things that will at least make things more bearable more often.

In the last year or so, started getting into the habit of saying 'monthly symptoms' instead of PMS, because when I really started noticing some minor oddness almost 10 years (though I've had things here and there since college), went to the doc and mentioned PMS. I immediately got put in this box where no matter what doctor I mentioned PMS too, the reply was always: SSRI, BCP, Exercise. I'm not sure they REALLY listened to all the symptoms sometimes. I then would try NOT to mention hormones in a conversation...but, I'm a glutton for punishment (could be the hormones smile.gif , so will bring it up again at my appt tomorrow rolleyes.gif
