Hi everyone. I am new to the site.. I hope it will be of some help to me.. I will be 42 in Dec. For the past 2 years I have had some very similar symptoms. Irregular periods, vaginal dryness hot flashes, moodiness. Frequent urination, and lack of sex drive to name a few! I see my gyno for yearly paps and exams. I tell them that i think I am peri, but they say I am much too young. I don't know when my mother entered because she had a hysterectomy. I also have a hyperthyroid that is under control with meds. My periods had started to get heavy with lots of clots, but not horribly heavy.. clots can be very large at times... just started las year or so Then last month for the firs time, I got two periods in a month, now I am 6 days late??? I saw my Endo and he did some bloodwork, hormones, all was well, including my thyroid.. I am so confused and worried that there is something very wrong with me that they are not finding.. I a know I probably sound a lot like others, just looking for support I suppose, or advice. Drs. have been no help.

I started peri at 42 so you are NOT too young, unfortunately. You'd need to have your hormone levels tested. Are you seeing a GYN?

I had them tested by my Endocrinologist who treats my thyroid. He did all the standard tests, I suppose. He said my lvels we alright. But I have read that simple bloodwork doesn't always give a clear picture until you are actually going through menopause. I'm just very worried and discouraged.

I started to have heavy periods about 3 or 4 years ago with clotting being a bit scary, I won't go graphic but I am sure we all know what I mean. I had a period 2x last Dec. I mean they were a few days apart and very heavy at that time had my FSH checked at 17.5. Over the last year I have been early and late only being on my usual 28 days cycle once. I am now about a week late the latest I have been. I got all the feelings of a period when it was supposed to come and it hasn't. Last period was strange being as I don't think I ovulated when I normally do( I get pain) I began to spot very light pink a week after my first period ended, after that I had some side pain and now I don't know what is going on. I don't know if i should have counted from the spotting or the "normal" period. I am 40 and my DR. said I WAS in peri. they all have such conflicting opinions which makes it even more difficult for us. HUGS Mikki

I am 39 i started last year, my thyroids were fine my hormones borderline, since then i have had the lot two periods a month - bad cramping, no sex drive, my skin is terrible, its either really dry or i get spotty - mood swings, palps- i sit and cry for nothing then just goes, and lightheaded off balance thing 24/7 the worst symptom of all, and hot flahes, i spend alot of time sleeping on the sofa as i cant sleep some nights so hot i keep my husband awake, my Dr thought i was a bit young, but now gives me tablets to regulate my periods which helps alot, i dont think there is an age limit, to this, if you are worried then ask for more tests at least that will ease your worry. regards
