Hi there darling friends,
One minute I'm hot, next minute I'm freezing even when the weather is fine. When I'm hot, my body feels like a surging volcano and the next day I could feel the complete opposite with cold fingers and toes. Can anyone relate?

Hi Gabby,

You are certainly not alone. I suffer from the same things, hot, cold, hot, cold, hot , cold etc. But when I am cold, I am freezing like I am in antartica. It is all Peri related, and if I am not warm I am cold, seldom am I somewhere like normal, so just relax and keep warm when you get those chills. I sometimes get in the steaming hot shower when I am at home and get warm to the bones. There are times when even central heating will not warm me, and my thyroid function bloodwork has just come back AAA normal, so apart from having your thyroid checked, it is certainly 'my' normal in Peri.

We just got to love this peri deal we have! laugh.gif

Hugs.

OH YES!!! and believe me, I'm no longer in peri either (I'm 60) and this has been going on for a long time, EXCEPT for the period of time when I was on HRT (5-6 years and then I was just cooler all the time but normal).

I have to dress in layers because I'm constantly taking off a jacket or sweater than putting them back on a little while later. In fact, I can no longer depend on what I'm feeling to know what the weather really is inside the house or out. A couple days ago my husband was putting a hanging rod onto a door for me. He finished covered in sweat. I hadn't turned the fan on because I was assumed I was just having a long hot flash and didn't want to cause him discomfort. Turns out that it was just plain HOT HOT in here (poor guy).

My husband has purchased a variety of little fans for me from portable to small little personal table tops as well as HUGE hurricane blowing ones. But right beside all off these are sweaters, jackets, shawls and even blankets too HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Count me in or these flashes of hot, cold, hot, cold...My tsh is within range (whatever that means), but my thyroid is enlarged..hmmm..... I do notice that if and when my period starts, around that time frame is when I begin having those deep in my bones chill. For some unknown reason, unknown to me smile.gif, I usually have these chills at night, occasionally they occur during the day. I've heard that we have these chills after a hot flash, but in my situation this is not the case. I've also found that dressing in layers does help smile.gif.

I'm going through the same thing....jacket on, jacket off.....I'm having at least 10 - 20 hot flashes a day for over a month now. I walk my dog for 1/2 hour in the morning and the sweat beads up on my forehead and runs down between "the girls" and it's not even hot out. Oh the joys of this journey......where are they....hahahahaha

I mostly freeze to death after my hot flash is over. One minute I'm glugging ice water, then next minute making a hot tea. My teeth chatter and everything. It is like the hot flash pulls every bit of heat out of my body and my core is ice. Gives me a belly-ache. I do jacket on jacket off now and then but generally I prefer to stay on the cool side just in case.

Hi everyone (who is suffering from hot and cold flushes and night sweats)

I can so relate to all of the above posts. I was on HRT for 6 years and it worked great. But now I am 59 I had to come off. I did this about 6 weeks ago. The first few weeks were horrendous as I did not taper the HRT just came off it. Now I feel better. I have started to take vitamins and minerals and the combination seems to have worked a miracle for me. The last few nights I have slept so well, and I have not had any sweats either. Also the day sweats have diminished to a great degree. I think either the worst is over or I have come across a cocktail of vitamins, minerals etc. that actually work. I will actually detail these in another post so that others can try as well. I have been taking these for 2 weeks now.

oh yes - I'm doing that kind of exercise, too: jacket off, jacket on - keeps me busy during the day
