Anyone out there have chronic bacterial infections? I have seen that there have been others, but nothing recent. I have had a chronic bacteria infectin of one sort or another for 10 months. It started out with Strep B for six mos, then e coli for 3, then a UTI, a few yeast. I am 41 and have been married for 16 years. Needless to say our life has certainly been altered. I feel very alone as my doctors nor friends know no others like me. I really would like it if someone else is experiencing this to please reach out. I have heard of something called a "vulvovaginal infecitons specialist" thru a previous posting in 2001 but have been unable to find such a doctor. I live in California, but am willing to travel.

Thank you.

You might try asking the people at Bellevue Pharmacy. They have relationships with lots of doctors from all over--so perhaps they would be able to suggest someone. It seems to me like California ought to have more specialists than most states. Click on their sign at the top of this page to send them a message. BTW, NAYY (Not affiliated, yada, yada). I haven't found a need to contact them yet, but wouldn't hesitate to do so, if I felt the need since they are allowed to advertise on this site.

Donna: Your question really caught my eye. I have definitely noticed that I have more bacterial infections since peri started. I've had several UTI's, several staph infections in my skin (one on my scalp that started with a small cut, several in my fingers from hangnails, and one on the tip of my nose!). It has scared me. I think I"m more run down and my immune system isn't as strong. I've started taking more vitamin C (up to 3000 mg a day) and I wash my hands constantly. I'm interested to hear what others have to say about this...

If you are willing to travel, get ahold of the womans clinic at the University of Washington medical center...206-598-5500. they specialize solely in pelvic issues and know of conditions most of us have never even heard of!!! Please do this....they can be a big help.

There was a period of time where I had multiple bladder and yeast infections, and no one could figure out why. Then I had (over a year or so) multiple group b strep infections. Depending on the severity, was given antibiotics. Started also seeing a naturopathic doc, and she told me about corn silk tea. If a drank it as soon as I felt something, I was able keep things at bay and get rid of it. Something has changed in my system again, and I haven't had as much of a problem with all those things. Yeast seems to appear a little bit monthly though.
