Hi there! This is my first time so I hope I am doing this right.

I have heard so much about menopause and hot flashes. I am 43 and am not sure what I feel, but it is definitely not hot. I AM FREEZING off and on during the strangest times. It was so bad the other evening that my whole body cramped up and I had to submerge myself in the tub for 30 minutes to attempt to stand up straight again. This is a strange sensation for me as the majority of my life I have been comfortable or usually warm.

Anyone else out there experiencing cold flashes?

I have had what I call chills so badly that it woke me up and my teeth chattered. The room was comfortable for my Mom. It almost made me feel nauseous, I was so cold. I've never been one to be prone to chills--and always liked rooms cooler than the rest of the family.

This was one of the first things I noticed. I mainly got it at night and was so cold I couldn't sleep. It was a real hurty type cold too and sort of in waves. I now have more of the hot flashes.

This is one of the first things that happened to me. About 2-3 days before my period I would get this weird feeling and then I would realize that it felt like an artic something was overtaking me! I would cry because if I wasn't near a bed with a BIG comforter or a very hot bath there would be no way to get warm. When it was happening there was no way for me to do something like get out of bed to get a tissue or anything. To me it felt very similar to having a very high fever. Same chattering teeth too and the shivering - sheesh. My hubby thought I was nuts - I'd have a throw on when watching TV in 90 degree weather. That's how I found this website- researching cold flashes. I've never heard of them before. I still get them but not as often or as bad. Now it's the day sweat thing. I'm sure that's leading to hot flashes!

Thanks for the responses! I am glad to hear that there is such a thing. I recently relocated my office...same company, just completely different area of the building. I was noticing it there first and attributed it to being in the lower level of the building...maybe damp, definitely cooler than upstairs. But then I noticed a few episodes of severe cold feelings and more often general feelings of being cooler than I have always been. I pretty much have been convinced that I am losing my mind!

Your comments have reassured me that it is possible to feel what I think I am feeling. Thanks for your replies!

I used to get cold flashes before the hot flashes kicked in. I was in my late 30's, early 40's. I would literally shiver! Even a hot shower and crawling under the electric blanket on high would not warm me.
