I have never suffered with breast tenderness while having PMS,but in this last year since I have been in peri my hormones have caused very sore tenderness in my breast for weeks at a time.

I am wondering have any of you ladies suffered with this also,it drives me crazy.it is like the pain you get when you are first nursing your new baby.

I am not pregnant for sure. wub.gif

Pamela, when I was going through perimenopause I had a lot of breast tenderness that didn't necessarily go away when I got my period. I think it's just part of the whole shabang, but I would suggest if you drink a lot of coffee or things with caffeine, that you give it up, as caffeine exacerbates the problem.

Pamela,

My breast are my biggest concern right now. They are really sore and swollen and I've noticed a lot of changes in them in the last six months (more visibility of veins..etc). I have had a mammo, ultrasound and visits to a breast specialist. All testing came back okay and breast specialist says due to fibrocystic breasts, aging and hormones.

I have an appt with a second breast specialist next week just to be sure. My breast and chest at times feel like they are burning and it goes all the way up to my collar bone and neck at times. All of this is very scary and I'm so tired I can barely keep my eyes open. I am in my third year of peri and recently had my FSH tested and was only 5 points away from the menopause range. My doctor told me that I'm getting there.

I also have scoliosis and have always had more pain on the right side of my upper body..and now of course my right breast shoulder and arm are sore 80% of the time. I just keep praying that I will someday feel good again. I've never had breast pain like I'm having now.

Oh Girls ME Too! I pretty much live in a bra right now! can not stand anything to touch my breasts! Also chest wall pain!
Check out ok too, Doctor said 100% hormonal! OK but what helps? She told me Vit E, but so far no relief!

I mentioned in an earlier post on this subject that Black Currant Seed Oil capsules helped me tremendously. If you're willing to try something natural, I would highly recommend it. Not only did it help with extreme breast tenderness/soreness, it helped the aching in my joints almost overnight! I had great results with it and wish the same for you, if you decide to try it!

HI - my two cents for you is to consider modifying your caffeine intake. It does seem to make a difference. I started to really feel the tenderness in the last couple of years; but I had it also when I was alot younger. Now it comes back to haunt me from time to time, when I am just about to have my (somewhat sporadic) period. EPO also helps with tenderness. Doesn't hurt to try some of these things.

Take care,

I have noticed this too and I was never one to get this particular symptom too often.

I think it might have to do with low estrogen.

I agree with pamela and suzpaterson about cutting back on the caffeine....try eliminating it completely(if you can) and you should notice a huge improvement within a month or so,it doesn't happen over night though. It's hard to cut out the caffeine if you're a pepsi and chocolate addict like i am but when my boobs start really getting sore,i do cut it all out(except for 1/2 cup coffee a day) and within a week or so i feel much better.I also wear sports bras 24/7 when mine are hurting, those make a big difference too.

oops, meant to say i agree with meryl and suzpaterson .....

I also do not eat or drink anything with caffeine.

gyz, do you swallow the black currant seed oil capsules or rub it in? Just wondering since Susuan Weed suggests rubbing St John Wort oil in, tried but it didn't help!

Hi Pamela,
I'm sitting here with breasts so sore they feel bigger than they are! lol. Breast tenderness for me used to be the sure sign my period was coming in a few days. Then the morning that I awoke without soreness would be the day I always started menstruating. Nowadays, there is no rhyme or reason. I just finished my 3rd period for this year, and whammo! Yesterday I was suddenly sore. The last time this happened (6-8 months ago, I think) I was so tender I got shooting pains in my poor "girls." It lasted over 3 weeks.

I haven't really sought out anything to take yet, so I'm no help there....but I do want to mention, for what it's worth, that "decaf" coffee does still have some caffeine in it, did you know? For some reason the processors cannot or (don't want to) remove all of it. So that might be helpful, if that matters to you. I've never been into coffee, but I sure do keep looking around for energy boosts. Ever since my 30's (I'm 49 now) I'm tired during the day a lot.....but that's a different topic. wink.gif

A couple of ladies had entries to cut out caffeine. My vote goes for that also. I am walking proof. Won't go on here, but get rid of as much chemicals and addtives in your diet as you can. So many of them stimulate growth of cysts and so on...enough said. Go fresh foods, nothing boxed or prepared/frozen. It's difficult at first, but once you are in the habit, it's nice knowing you are only eating Chicken, Veggies and Grains...

Try organic Dairy Products. The hormones/steroid pesticides antibiotics in dairy is a whole lot more of what our bodies already are having trouble dealing with. smile.gif

Vitamin B Complex
Vitamin E (watch your dosage, can bring on mild depression with overdose)
Evening Primrose Oil
Try the Omega 3-6-9 that you can get at upper end vitamin stores.
All Good Stuff.

It never fails. Every time I come up with a new and weird symptom, I just come on here and read about someone else having it too! smile.gif I was just telling my DD about how sore my breasts have been over the last week and that I was getting shooting pains in my left one. I was wondering if it was because my doc upped my Prometrium to 200 mg a couple of months ago. Just another weird peri symptom, I guess!

I have been getting very sore boobies lately. The evening primrose oil seems to work for me with this symptom.

Should I not be drinking tea either? I don't drink coffee.
