Hi everyone I joined the board a week or so ago. I am 48 yrs. old have been going through peri for about 3- 4 yrs. Atleast I think that is what it is. It started with irregular periods, closer together, heavy bleeding, clotting, some were longer in duration, some shorter. Now they seem to skip, I had my last one in july 07, but since my last period i have been having soaking nite sweats all nite long, and some during the day. I use to get them usually before my period and then they would leave, well it looks like they are here to stay now, LOL! These sleepless nites are killing me. I also have fibromyalgia so its taken a double toll on me. I read many of the posts and i can relate to them oh so well.
From anxiety, depression, mood swings, health anxiety ( that seems to be my worse) I constantly worry about all the things i feel.
Well I am looking forward to meeting other women who I can talk to to help me get through this horrible thing. I thank god i found this board.
Hope everyone is having a nice day!

Welcome JoAnn-
Join the peri club - one thing is for certain: no two days are exactly the same! It's like a very long roller coaster ride!
Power Surge is a great support and research. I check in several times daily!
Again, Welcome!

rolleyes.gif Hi Jo Ann - I am going through similar experiences I think. I do not have fibromyalgia though but still. It's weird though isn't it? I mean I just had to take my top off (wearing a camisole) cuz I was just feeling hot and I was thinking, "have they turned the heat on already in the house?" Looked, and nope it isn't on. Geesh. I am soooo tired but somewhat keyed up that I can't sleep - does that make any sense? I feel a little bit like a basket case quite frankly. I mean what is going on here? My poor friends and family...work mates. sad.gif

Very nice to meet you and I too have eyes of green.

Sincerely,

Hi- its nice to hear from someone else. I know what you mean about feeling like a basket case, it is just awful, i feel like a different person. Do you get the nite sweats also, keeping you up all nite? If you don't mind me asking, how old are you, are your periods irregular too. I guess i just need some reassuring that i am not going crazy, lol or have some deadly disease. I get such health anxiety, always worrying. Along with many other things. Well it was nice to hear from you, and another with eyes of green. Take care of yourself and feel free to keep in touch.

JoAnn,

I guess I'm in the perimenopause stage...haven't had a period since the end of March, so it's almost 6 months. Menopause is when you're without a period for 12 months....I'm almost there. I keep praying that this has to get better.

Hugs,
Karen

Hi All,
I post occassionally, but mostly just read to know that I am not alone in this crazy menopause journey! My most awful symtom is terrible health anxiety!!!!!! I am petrified to go to the doctor for fear that I will find out I have some horrible disease! In fact I have my annual obgyn on monday along with my mammogram and I am sooooo nervous! Lately, I have to take Xanax to function and calm down. I have two little girls so I have to be "normal" for them. Also, for the past 2 years, I am always warm. My hands especially are hot like they are on fire. No night sweats, just always warm - my husband says he can feel the heat radiating from my body! And recently, lightheaded and dizzy which can last a week and then vanish or for just a day I have not had a period for almost 10 months - though this also happened last year and then month 11 - a period again! I just turned 45 last month.

I want so badly to stop worrying about my health and dying young - it t ruly consumes my thoughts. I was always a worrier but now in peri it is 100 times worse.
This site truly helps to kmow that I am not alone.

Hi eyesofgreen! I will keep in touch... Just double click on to someone's name and you can quite often get more information about them wink.gif

I am 51...my periods are irregular. I can't remember if it was July or August at the moment when I had my last one...I averaged last year 7 periods and this year about it's about the same...might be slightly better than last year which is just too weird. I will have to check. When I have a period it is heavy too. I am anxiety ridden and desire that period release I get. It is that "aaaaaah" feeling. I know I'd feel better if I had a period.

I'm wackadoodle doo for sure. Health - ohman don't get me started. I am avoiding going to the Doctor right now. I was supposed to go in January, and haven't been. My bad. I too and I am sure alot of us here have health anxieties though. Perfectly "normal". Hi Churubgal! Lightheadness is "normal" too! Don't you just love it???!!!!

Sincerely
suzpaterson

Hi Diane- I read your post and i could have wrote it, you are me to the T. I know actually how horribe it is to consume your life with health anxiety. I am also petrified to go to the dr. thinking i am going to hear the worst news. Unfortunately i was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 2 yrs. ago after 6 yrs. of running to drs. emergency rooms, test after test with everything coming back normal. It was an exhausting journey physical and emotionally by the time i was diagnosed. I had to have blood work done on thursday cause i haven't been feeling well at all, and i am sick out of my mind waiting for the results. My dr. is testing me for Lupus, along with cbc, etc. Of course i look up nite sweats and all i see is Lymphoma, so I got myself convinced that i am a gonna! It is such a sick way of thinking and so scary to be alone in the house all day long by myself (my last one went off to college in August) my husband is gone 12 hrs. aday and i moved to this neighborhood 4 yrs. ago and no one is friendly and my family all live out of state. So I have no one, it is very hard to say the least. I tried paxill and xaxan and they do the opposite and make me more anxious. So i am on my own dealing with fibro, peri, and anxiety. Sorry this is so long, but i wanted to let you know you are not alone, i understand how you feel. I hope you start feeling better soon.
Hugs,
Jo Ann

Hi Jo Ann,
Thanks for your reply. I took seem to be looking up many of my symptoms up on the computer and then convincing myself I have this or that and of course my anxiety skyrockets!! And yes, waiting for the test results is pure torture for me!!! THe only way I can calm myself down is telling myself, that if I do get results which are not the best, I have a bettter chance of getting cured then waiting until more damage might be done. We just relocated to Florida and my husband is not living with us fulltime beacuse he has another year before he can retire as a law enforcement officer, so I am basically all alone with just my two little girls. I always wonder if I we die and leave them without a mother too soon. I know that sounds awful, but I think about it all the time.
Well, I just hope I can get through my tests this week - I have put them off for more than six months because I couldn't get my nerve up to go.
Please let me know how you are doing - I hope you get your results soon.
Hugs to you,
Diane
