I am thinking of going back on Prempro as nothing natural is combating the hot flashes and night sweats.  I wanted to do a more natural routine, but nothing has worked and I had tried virtually everything my health food/supplement store has to offer.  They even have a holistic physician who put together a whole program.  Nothing has worked in addition to costing an arm and a leg for all the pills and creams.

So, my question to those of you have or are using Prempro, is, have you experienced any side effects from taking it and, if so, what?

Thanks!!

I think that this was meant for the whole board, not just me...

Message title: HormoneI am 49 and have been experiencing most of the symtoms that everyone has been talking about, like, night sweats, vaginal dryness, mood swings, insomnia. I have not had a real period for about 12 months.  Some spotting.  My doctor just prescribed prempro but after reading the contraindications, I am scared of using it.  It seems that it is for the symptoms then you can stop using it.  However, my interest is to be able to get someting for insomnia, vaginal dryness and mood swings.  The sweats or hot flashes dont worry me too much.  I can live with that.  I thought that one needed to be on hormoe theraphy all the time.  Is anyone familiar with PREMPRO?  Is there anything out there that will help insomnia, vaginal dryness and mood swings and not have all this contra indications like cancer in the uterus, weight gain etc.

Need help.  Thanks

I started Prempro a little over a month ago for dryness and osteopenia, and it is the most miserable thing I have ever taken.  Dizzyness, nausea, palps, I feel weak..I used to run 3 miles, now can barely walk 3.  The doc says that this will pass in a few months, but I don't want to go through this for another 2 months, so i am quitting and am going to try and find a doctor more versed in menopause, mine primarily delivers babies and really didn't have much info on HRT....it almost felt like a one size fits all prescription.  Other boards talk about FemHRT which seems kind of promising.  Hope this helps

I deal with insomnia constantly and have been on prempro for about 3 years.  I don't believe it will help you with that.
