Hi girls,
Just a qiuck question...about 1 year ago when I started to get hotflashes I started to get flashes of ligth in my eyes, ususally early morning, maybe that is just when it is more noticable. It seems as if someone stood in front of me and took a pic. with a flash or headlights from a car came blasting in my window rigth at my eyes. I had this for a few mo. and it went away until a few days ago. I was shot awake thinking a major flash of lightning just happened so I waited for the thunder, thought I heard a distant rummble and blew it off. This morning it happened again this time there was no thunder...probably wasn't last time since I thought as bright as it was the bolt would have had to hit right outside my window. My eyes are very sensitive lately i.e. if I look outside and then back in and look around my house I will see disco lights for awhile in the form of lines and balls and I didn't look directly at the sun nor does it have to be oeverly bright out.
I have been to the eye Dr. and no detached retina or eye trouble other than reading glasses I have had for many years. The only thing is they seem to be prevalent with me being or feeling overly warm. Is this part of hotflashes? I haven't heard of them being related beofre. thanks Mikki

I have also started noticing the flash of lights, the other night I had a heart palipation and my eyes flashed light at the same time. It really scared me. I also notice the light sensitivity. I know what you mean about disco lights. I know I am in the deep stages of menopause because I have severe hot flashes and haven't had a period in 7 months so I am assuming that it is hormonal. Hang in there!!

Has anyone ever had spots in their vision? It seemed like a gray circle-like spot in each eye for only a second. That was long enough to scare me silly. (I had been reading for a LONG time when it happened.) I didn't have a headache or anything, but I was tired. I KNOW is should go and see an eye doctor, but how do I get over the fear of going and worrying that I"ll find out there is something terribly wrong?

I know, dmar. I went thru the same thing about a year ago. My sight was getting blurry, watery, and spots and migraines (which I've always had).
I went in, really scared and told all my symptoms. He prescribed new glasses, looked at me, and said maybe we should do a blah-blah- test (can't remember the name of the test). Well, that REALLY freaked me out. I asked why and he said "Because YOU seemed concerned."
Implying he really wasn't as concerned as me. That made me feel better...and the test was fine. My point is, even tho it's scary to go in it really is better than wondering and worrying.
We PS sisters will be behind you, praying and cheering you on.

One more thing, dmar.
The gray-like circles could be migraine auras. I've had those twice, but never got the actual headache.

Lynsi, You have made my day, let me tell you! I have been worried all day, kind of an underlying anxiety while trying to act normally for my family. Thank you so much for replying-I will seriously consider going to my GP and letting her know what's going on. If she feels it's necessary, she can refer me to an eye doctor. Again, thank you and God bless you! DebM.
