Ladies now that I've gotten over venting I wondering if anyone can shed some light or provide a remedy for how I'm feeling.

This is day 49 without a period and I'm experiencing anxiety, mild internal shakes, weepy feeling, and restless feeling. I know it has to do with my absent cycle. What can I do? What can I take?

I'm currently taking a low dose compounded progesterone cream which until recently was keeping these symptoms under control. I've not had the internal shakes in a couple of years.

Your input is greatly appreciated. smile.gif

Hi MyFaith, I went almost 180 days without a period, and at your stage, day 49, I could have written the same symptoms as you, but as the time wore on to around the 70 day point, my body was adjusting to the feelings and I knew what it was and relaxed into it. I was very sad when after going through all of that that I did get another period, and just before a got that period, the symptoms got worse again. I also had shocking flashes, plaps etc.....and then a period......but the inbetween when it had settled, I wish I could have stayed there. So as you are getting those symptoms, it may be that you are not finished yet with Peri, and a period is waiting to come.

I cannot advise on the hormones as I am going cold turkey for as long as I can because I fear they mess with nature with my body.....and that has been since I was in my 20's and tried BC pills.....they never agreed with me. I cannot use magnesium as I have IBS, but I do try and work on telling myself that this will pass. I am not always successful...most times not, but sometimes I am, and I feel it is worth the try of accepting.........what we cannot change....and that is awful, but an awful reality.....so my heart goes out to you.....I do know where you are at.

Hugs,
Viktoria

Viktoria, sorry that I'm just now reading your post...Here I am going through the same thing again. You are right about this feeling passing in time, which in my case took about two weeks.

Being an analytical thinker I try to make sense or look for patterns in things. What is going on in my body to cause this reaction? I've not had a real period in three months and it's like my body is going through drug withdrawal with the symptoms that I'm experiencing. Even my blood pressure is acting up after two years of calm.

Okay, enough venting. Thanks again Viktoria for the encouragment.

Hi MyFaith,

I understand where you are coming from, and like you, I tend to be very analytical. I am only 17 days since my last period, and yet this month I feel the same as you; like I am experiencing withdrawals from something. I had my hormone serum tested on day 3, and sure enough, everything was low, except the FSH which was in post range. I know I am 'close' to the end. My poor old ovaries are running out of steam, and the estrogen levels were even lower than they should be. The things Peri can do to us. sad.gif

Anyway, the reason I am posting is to tell you what my Gyn said. He's very good at communicating with me, and he said that the feeling I am getting is because we can liken estrogen to a drug that is highly addictive, and when the body stops making it in high doses, we feel it as real as if we were in drug withdrawal.

I cam home and did some research on the net, and found an article that called estrogen "Natures LSD". So after reading that, and with what I feel, and you clearly feel, is it any wonder all of we women are suffering so much? Not really.

I just hope that all of us can get to a comfortable place at some time.

Take Care!

Viktoria, it sounds like you have a gem for a doctor smile.gif, such a blessing. I agree, especially with how I'm feeling right now, with the withdrawal theory. I know that you are going through this drug free, but did your doctor mention anything about things that could be helpful?

I'm seeing a new doctor in a couple of hours and I want to share this information with her. If my elevated blood pressure is just related to declining estrogen triggering anxiety then I really don't want to increase my bp medication. Should I take something for the anxiety until everything settles down or what are my other options? These are valid concerns that I'm praying and believing this doctor will address. Please provide any input that you may have smile.gif. Thanks!

Hi there! I know I have not been part of this thread, thought I would jump in anyway.

I really think you should consider some HRT....and I know some people flip out and say they want to do it naturally, but I believe it is natural for us to have hormones, and the fact that we feel so horrible without them is a pretty good indicator that we need them. In this modern age we live in our stress levels are so high that the adrenals, which is supposed to give us the estrogen after the ovaries quit, are too tired to product enough estrogen.

I am not on hrt yet, I have had to take an anti depressant to control the horrible anxiety and panic....I also have Ativan for the particularly difficult events. For me the mental side effects have been the worst and I was totally non functioning for 2 months. I feel now I have applied a band-aid to my symptoms, but have not got to the root of the problem, being lack of hormones.

There are different theories out there....but if our thyroid stop working properly we have no problem replacing that hormone...if we become diabetic, we have not problem taking insulin....so if our bodies stop producing estrogen, progesterone or testosterone, is makes perfect sense to replace them. With the advancement in hormone replacement options this can be done with relative safety.

Anyway...this is just how I feel.

Good luck and hope you feel better soon

Hi there, I do not know what is going on my post; hopefully this is not a repeat.

Ladies perhaps you may consider buying some organic soy products as that is a natural form of estrogen. What about a tofu (soft) smoothie with some juice, banana, strawberries/blueberries, flax seed and whatever else you fancy for breakfast?

I see what the point you are making Float, but I think we can't prevent the hands of time. It is a natural process for us to change at this time in our lives, but if it is a premature type of situation - then b4 going on the older type of HRT, maybe there are some more natural foods that we can integrate into our bodies?

Sincerely,
Suz

Hi MyFaith, this happened to me in sept. the 1st time ever i missed a period. I totally skipped. The waiting, for 60 days, was excruciating. I was a complete nervous wreck, with horrific pms symptoms the whole month of sept. I started using progest after I was 3 wks. late because I felt i had to do something, and i knew my body was tring to have a period. after a week of the progest, my period arrived. It was the middle of Oct. I dont know weather it was the progest or just time, but its a terrible feeling. I have heard of parsley tea helping to bring on a period and soy supplements as well. I really feel the progesterone cream brought my period on.

I've heard that vitamins B6 and vitamin E are good for PMS and peri/meno. You may want to give it a try. I know of people that were late and felt very out of sorts. It takes awhile for your body to adjust to the change. Some things to avoid are sugars and caffeine. If you eat a healthy diet it lessens the symptoms.

"Nature's LSD" Wow. I'll have to give that one some thought!
