I have a "rash" on my right arm that is kind of itchy and almost looks like small bug bites. I don't have any pets, so it couldn't be flea bites. Is this something anyone else has had? I am starting to think maybe there are very tiny bugs in my house that are biting only me, because no one else in my family has it. I haven't changed what I eat, my detergent, bath soap, shampoo, nothing. It doesn't seem like it could be bug bites, though, because I'm sure I would have noticed being bitten that many times. I would appreciate any input. Thanks, DebM.

Thanks for your reply, LizardLover. I am noticing that I am feeling itchy kind of all over right now so maybe it's just another wonderful peri symptom. I'll see how I feel tomorrow. dry.gif

Hi! My sister got a rash of tiny little red looking spots from being in the sun one day a few months ago and it still hasn't gone away! I have heard that too much vitamin D can also cause little red spots. Are you having night sweats? It might be you are getting a heat rash all over your body if you are under the covers sleeping and don't wake until you're soaked. I have gotten heat rash between my thighs at night when sweating. Itty bitty red spots that go away in about a week. I sleep with three layers, sheet, light blanket, heavier blanket, and keep the sheet up, lighter around my hip area, and heavier at the feet..I've found this pretty much keeps me out of the gasping for air sweats...I"m betting it's a heat rash!

Hi Fofura, I was just surfing the message boards and noticed your reply to my post about the bite-like rash that I had. I think you're right, it was a heat rash. The temp and humidity here have been very high most of the summer, so there's not much relief. The rash is completely gone now and I'm not itchy (at least today!) so I'm very thankful for that. At night, I have been sleeping with only a sheet over me, then I get way too hot, so I kick it off until I get way too cold and pull it back over me, then I get way too hot..............sound familiar? LOL ! Anyway, have a wonderful evening! DebM.

I posted this under another topic heading, but this one might be a better bet:
Hi. Not sure if I'm in the right spot...but was reading alot of this string and some stuff sounded familiar. I came home and had a itch, when I scratched, felt some bumps. After taking a look, noticed some red bumps on to the right of my stomach, then saw the same on the left side. I'm half way thru my period (which keeps starting earlier each month now) and was very warm when I got home today (walk from bus) plus my husband had the fireplace going, so I was boiling. It was within about 10 minutes of getting home I noticed something. Also wondering if it was something I wore or ate, but thought I would have noticed it earlier. Put some allergy cream on it and will see what happens.

I had a bout of shingles a few years ago, and about 15 years ago had weird welts on my legs that went away on their own after about 6 weeks (same with the shingles).

My reaction of course is 'NOW WHAT!' Have an appt for a physical in a couple weeks, and hoping

UPDATE: Going to the doc today. Think I can rule out some guesses I had above, but we'll see. It has spread, but the original spots are getting a little better (have been using a talc/itch powder). There are also some spots that are more like discolorations. It does sometimes feel like somethign is crawling on certain parts, but I never see anything, then there's a spot. Occasional on/off itchiness, but its not bad. ARGH!

Since it started part way thru my period, I'm guessing there could be some hormone relation? Had a saliva test a few years ago and found my progesterone to be spastic. Now it seems everything is spastic blink.gif Any thoughts?

There is a menopausal symptom I have read about that is called "formication" which is itching that feels like something is crawling under your skin.

The bumps might be the result of you scratching the itches.

jdog, I saw your post on my thread, but didn't have time to reply at the time.

Only by having some tests will you find out whether it is the same as you had before, so I hope your doc recommends some for you. Shingles starts with bumps, but so do a lot of other things. My tiny red bumps only came after I began to scratch the itching, which wasn't too bad at first, until it started spreading more rapidly. Mostly, my rash area was a huge darker area than the surrounding skin, a bit like sunburn or a faint birthmark.

Hope you get it sorted.

Thanks much for your thoughts! I was given a mild topical cream because the doc said it looked liked scabies!!! Who knows where I picked that up!!! Will keep an eye on things and plan to look up that menopausal rash info as a back up. I've had shingles before, and these spots look a little different, though secretly that was my first reaction. And because of that, have been VERY careful not to scratch.

Only just started the treatment, so should know in the next week. Will be sure to post any updates.

Keep in mind that having pets increases the likelihood of fleas but they do exist without them and leave multiple small red bites. Bed bugs do this too. Fleas like ankles, knees, etc.

Hello, I was diagnosed with Lichen-Planus over a year ago. It started out looking like insect bites, then spread all over my body, except my face (thank goodness)! If your rash gets worse or it won't stop itching no matter what you use, you may need to see a dermatologist. I even had bumps in my mouth (Oral Lichen Planus). This is not contagious and mine has gone away, but I had it for over a year! I did my own research on-line and diagnosed myself before my doctor or dentist could figure it out! Good Luck!

Yikes! Good tip. Was there a test done or can they tell by looking? I do have a couple autoimmune problems too, so with all the hormone things, I just never know what's what anymore.

we do have a kitty and we're bringing her to the vet. My doc is pretty sure its not fleas. We always give her flea meds on a regular basis. My husband has shown no symptoms. he always seems to never have problems!!! dry.gif

I wanted to respond to this thread because on the news this morning I heard that a lot of people had been having mysterious bites/rashes and a doctor or scientist has determined that they are bites from a specific kind of mite that likes to feast on Cicada eggs, and because this was a year of Cicada hatching the mites were much more prevalent. The doc said that the mite is harmless. Those of you who have experienced this might want to do a 'net search to find more info and see if this fits your situation !

Hi. Just updating...after be sent for a second opionion to a dermatologist, was told it is some sort of reaction to a bug bite, but couldn't confirm scabies because of the pattern. Kitty got a clean bill of health from the vet. It has been REALLY slow in going away and it has REALLY stressed me out. BUT, the itching has stopped and again, its finally starting to go away. mellow.gif

thanks again for everyones ideas!
