Yesterday afternoon while at my mother in laws...I felt strange all of a sudden...like a deep, sinking butterfly feeling in the pit of my stomach, sort of like an adrenal rush, and then my arms felt all weird and tingly...naturally this scared the beejeebers out of me, but the weird feeling only lasted about 30 seconds and then I got a mild hot flash....then the same weird sensation happened again about ten minutes later...again followed by a hot flash....Needless to say it scared me because my hot flashes seem to be varying all the time in the way they present. I do get low blood sugar at times and thought that maybe the weird sensations were because my sugar was low...didn't have my meter with me though so couldn't check it but did eat a piece of hard candy and felt better after that....the feeling never came back...anyone else experience this?

Tina,

That is ALWAYS how my hot flashes happen. First the weird feeling, tingling etc. then it is followed by a warm flush. Scared me too when it first started to happen and then I would panic. Now I just go with the flow when it happens.

Mine are very similar, but mostly happen at night. I wake with that feeling in my stomach, then get muscle tension in my back and butt and sometimes down my legs, followed by a period of HEAT radiating off my body. Throw the blankets off...then about 3 min. later, I'm pulling them back up b/c I'm cold!!!!

Who needs exercise?? I get a workout everynight beginning between midnight and 2:15 that lasts until I get up! LOL!

I'll take the heat...I just hate the muscle tension!!

Yep....I don't get "hot" flashes but like you said "mild" heat but same feeling. Sometime I get this before a panic attack or just that mild anxiety feeling. Your not alone Tina (if that makes you feel any better!)

Yep same here. I get a funny buzzing feeling in my throat then it goes up. I then feel everything in my body is somehow being pulled or forced down to the ground, like a heavy feeling. The tingling feeling starts and my heart starts pounding along with getting the dizzies or I feel like I am going to pass out. Sometimes the hot feeling starts sometimes it don't. If I let my mind race with the feelings of I am going to die it will get worse. To get a grip when I am starting to have these feelings and so I don't get the shakes or the panicky feelings I count or add in my head to distract myself. Breathing slowly helps to. So sorry you are going through this as I know it is not fun. Hope you are doing better. biggrin.gif

It's is so good to know that you feel the same way before a hot flash. I was so worried that something else was wrong. That weird feeling always wakes me up at night. It's such a strange sensation and to hard to describe to the doctor. He thought I was crazy or something.

I used to get these adrenaline rushes without the hot flush, and they are very wierd and mostly would wake me up at night like some awful nightmare. Thankfully haven't had one for some time now. No one seems to know what really is happening. I used to feel weak, slightly dizzy, and like being s*cked down a big hole. Once or twice they ended with 'zaps' to my body or head. No heat, just a film of cold sweat. Spooky. Don't worry - they do pass.

Sorry forgot, we call a 'hot flash' a 'hot flush' in england.

I haven't had many hot flashes as I am only 41. But today I had that weird feeling followed by feeling mildly hot (mostly in my face). I went and sat down on the couch and took my BP and it was 129/83 which is high for me. Do hot flashes cause a rise in blood pressure too? I am not enjoying this one bit!

Yes Stephanie, my blood pressure shoots up to 150/90, my pulse shoots up, I feel very anxious and then the flush comes. I find drinking a glass of ice cold water helps a bit.
Then it all calms down again, until the next one comes.
You learn to live with it, though it's not all that enjoyable! At least you know it's normal and you don't need to worry. I've had this on and off for a year and I'm still here!
I hope you don't get any other symptoms and that these go away soon.
Good luck!

I get a headache that warns me the hot flash is coming...! once the flash comes, the headache goes away but I get sick to my stomach for a few minutes
