Ok here I go again. If it ain't one thing, it's another. Last night I had constant pain in my lower back and in the front all the way across right above the pubic bone. Also my legs ached. I curled up in a ball when I went to bed. My husband put ben gay on my lower back and this morning the pain was gone. But now the aching is starting just lightly in the groin area and above the pubic bone. I had an ultrasound in Jan. and all they found was 2 small cysts on my left ovary but every little pain seems to scare the heck out of me. Yesterday I did take my mom to walmart and pushed her around in the wheel chair for two hours, carried her groceries in, watered all her flowers, swept my floors, watered all my flowers and our garden but I can't really determine if this is related to that or if it is another problem. Any of you girls ever had this? Any ideas of what it might be? Thanks to all of you girls I can get some sort of ideas.

Hi susie, Sorry no one has written you. I was in a nightmare car accident and sustained injuries to my pelvic floor. I was in horrible pain, could not have sex, hardly walk, sit. stand. just exst without pain. There are many muscle groups that wrap around the buttocks, perineum, vagina, around the hips and across the pubic bone areas. So many muscles, there is something called the pelvic rotator cuff, just like a shoulder, your leg where it joins in the ball and socket is ringed by muscles. It sounds like you need some good stretches and possibly physical therapy. Ttry standing on one leg and simply bending one leg back at the knee, holding with the same hand as same leg side, and gently stretchig the area of the psoas, where your leg moves in to the hip bone area in front. Try laying dwon on yoir back with legs bent, feet on ground flat, and with legs shoulder width apart, squeeze a ball about 16 acrooss for one minute as hard as you can, unless you feel pain. Also stretch very carefully from side to side, flop your right leg over the left kknee, laying down, and slowly twist at the waist towards the right, using your right leg as a weight to pull the left and stretch all along the outer edge, relax relax and breathe, do on the other side. There are many stretches and strengthening exercises. Carrying weight when the pelvic floor is out of whack is a big no no. You must learn how to bend down and pick up weight properly. I could not even carry a basket of laundry for 4 years or bend over and cinch up a plastic bagof garbage. There is a great book called Roll for Control, and Solving the mystery of the Pelvic rotator cuff but I can't remember her name, I think it is Janet something from Montana. Pushing a wheel chair would put me back in dee deep trouble. Try to find these books and learn what steps you can take to strengthen your pelvic flor. The exercise also help for he future with incontinence and stability, walking , etc., in old age. hope this helps

fofura has the right idea. I have had this going on for too many years off and on, as does my older sister and my mother had it too.

Mine is caused by disks herniating, sliding and now compressing. I never associated this pain to my back since there was relatively to no pain there; the affected nerves are MUCH lower and so I feel it in my pelvis, legs and even feet. Often the pain is not in all these areas at the same time.

Along with the great advice fofura has given, also try this: when you lay down, lay ON the affected side, then bend and bring the unaffected leg (or least affected leg) up. Sleep that way if you're able. This gently pulls and realigns the vertabrea in the spinal column releasing pressure on nerves being pressed.

Both of us having made these suggestions however, since cysts have already been noted, I also think you should have these re-examined regardless. Cysts are like boils and can become more engorged and multiply.

Just wanted to add I have similar problems and the stretches mentioned are really good ones to ease the pain. Lifting any type of heavy object (or pushing a wheelchair) will definitely aggravate the pain, as will bending (I'm very talented at picking up things with my toes now.)

I would strongly suggest a chiropractor. I have a muscle disorder in my pelvic floor and it makes a WORLD of difference. It could be your sciatic nerve is being pinched. Please give this a try but make sure you get one that KNOWS about pelvic floor issues before letting him/her touch you! Good luck and if you need support through this pain PM me.

I believe all of the ladies have hit the nail on the head. This is likely related to muscle strain, herniated disk or something along those lines. But, if it does not go away in a feww weeks I think I would go to the doctor. Not to scare you but I do know that cysts similar to the ones you had on your ovaries can cause back pain. Just get it checked out if the pain does not go away. Again, I really do not think this is anything to worry about.
