Lately i have been experiencing some strange feelings in my breasts. All of a sudden i will get a "hot spot"....part of my boob will feel like it's on fire...like i am being burned with a lighter or by fire.It gets so hot feeling(but not to the touch) that it becomes unbearable....then as fast as it started,it stops. It's a very odd feeling....it's not a hot flash,i have those....this is more intense than anything i have ever felt(so far)....should i be worried?

Hmmm - I personally haven't had that happen to me...but boy oh boy - you said it starts and stops just as quickly - I would guess it's a peri.meno. symptom...So many wierd things happen during that time.

I am hoping it's a peri symptom and that others have experienced the same thing......otherwise i will be worried.
It doesn't happen all the time or anything,it's just an on and off thing, like maybe every other day, sometimes a couple times a day, sometimes not for a week or so.It literally feels like someone is holding a flame on me and i feel like ripping my shirt off and putting ice on it.....thank goodness it doesn't last very long when it happens..

Hello moonlight,
Sounds like you have described my symptoms perfectly. I have no idea what causes these problems but they can be quite painful at times. I have had bad heart burn-digestive problems and wonder if that could have something to do with it. The burning feeling seems to travel. Seems to be more on my left side than my right---hope that doesn't indicate a heart problem, as heart problems in women are so nontextbook type symtoms. I do have a yearly mammo and do a monthly check. Everything normal. I don't know what it could be. If you figure out something please tell me as this symptom has perplexed me too.

Lavender....in my case i know it's not heart burn or digestive problems because the burning isn't coming from the inside of my body,it's definitley on the outside of my boob, like i said,it feels like someone is holding a flame on me......hope someone can help me....

Moonlight,
My breasts have been very painful and yes I can totally relate to the type of pain/symptom you are having. My breast feel like they are burning and they feel hot under my clothing but aren't red or swollen or hot to the touch. I have seen a breast specialist twice this year since February about these feelings. She says they are due to fibrocystic breast disease and my hormones. Sometimes only one breast will feel this way..other times both..and sometimes even my upper chest and underarms feel this same burning feeling. I tend to have more problems with my right breast than my left but have felt it off and on in both and as shared at times along the collar bone area and even under my arms. At this point in time I have had a normal mammogram and two consults with my breast specialist due to breast tenderness/pain and burning feelings. I also have developed yeast in the fold under my breasts (which has nothing to do with this burning feeling..which I feel in other spots. I think this is a peri/meno symptom and as shared my specialist has said the same. She is a surgeon specializing in the breasts. I was worried about inflammatory breast disease and she's assured me that that is not my problem. Isn't this all just a pain? I just keep praying and reminding myself that I have been diligent in checking these symptoms and that whatever God has in store for me will happen.
I hope this helps...

Hi moonlight,
I just wanted to give my two cents,,,I have only in the last year have had 4 or5 times have had very sore nipples, that my bra or clothes hurt to wear even bathing hurts ,like you get when you first start nursing your baby..However I am 44 and NO infant..It is definatly peri related as even yrs of PMS I did not have this..It can last for weeks and go away for months and come back...
My sister a mother of two had breast cancer she had a double mastectomy..a year of chemo and and other drugs that took its toll on her.....I am a advoacate for mamograms and monthly self checks...."Thinkpink".... have your yearly breast checked...she felt a cord in her left breast for many months and numbness in her arm and hand for a long time...Her gyno did never order a mammo because she was so young 33 ...We almost lost her the cancer was stage three..
I am saying this not to scare you,,most of the time breast issues are benign..I went to my gyno and she said I was fine.. that the soreness was most likely homones ...But like my sister told me in her gut feeling she knew something was really wrong and wished she would of demanded a mammogram ....and that is when we need to listen to ourself ...
Take care,
Pamela

Moonlight,
I agree, if you haven't had a mammogram and breast exam you should just to be sure nothing is being overlooked. I had my mammo and then two consults with a breast surgeon just to ensure I wasn't overlooking something. I am feeling the same feelings you are and most likely we both are doing so because of hormones...but if you haven't been already I am encouraging you to get your check up.

OMG...I just went through the same pain with my nipples. My breasts didn't hurt...but If I were to walk naked infront of a fan 10 feet away..that is where I would feel the pain..putting a bra on was very painful.. as was bathing....That pain has left..now I am aching throughout my shoulders... pain from my elbows through my hands...my calves hurt just has much....feels like I have worked out...which I have not. I am so over this!!!

Moonlight,
I haven't experienced this my self, but talking with my mother about her peri symptoms this is the one she clearly remembers, the burning breast. She said they got swollen and really hot. I hope this helps.
