hi everyone! i'm miserable.... i don't mean to come across as negative but i'm sorry that's how i'm feeling lately! i've had cat scans of my neck, bloodwork done and i just lost my job. i was on the couch for two weeks and didn't want to talk to anyone so that meant not going to work. i was put on lexapro (5mg) and i'm feeling better other than the monthly headaches that won't go away and now this heat sensation from my neck up. i was thinking hot flash but now i'm worried because if you touch my face it actually feels cool so i have myself believing i have a terrible disease and i'm going to die soon and have to make arrangements for my family. everyone i talked to said that hot flashes make their faces red and warm to the touch. not mine... i get the hot sensation but that's it. it comes every morning and lasts on and off for about an hour or so. i'm so sorry for yakking but i hope someone can give me suggestions or something. i'm 45 years old and feel like i'm going to be 70! last year at this time i was a happy go lucky girl and now i'm far from that....

tclark~~I've had that same thing so don't worry. I can be in the middle of a hotflash and my face feels cool and clammy. It's happened many times to me so I think it's just that old inner thermostat going whacko. Hope you feel better soon....this peri/meno stuff is so hard but it does get better, I promise. Thank you so much for your reply. This really is hard to deal with. Today is the 2nd day of my horrific headache. Nothing takes it away so I just have to deal with it. Between the hot flash and the headaches I could cry a river. ha Again, thank you.

Please, please do not worry about all of that. I have had only one real true to life sweat dripping hot flash. I just tend to get hot. My chest gets splotchy red and my neck and face feel like they are hot. Not sure if my face is cool to the touch but it probably is. You are not alone in this. Trust me.

It used to be that I was the one that was always cold and we would have the heat on so high my husband had to sit around in shorts in the winter because he said it was sweltering. Now it is just the oppositie. EVERY night while I am laying in bed trying to fall asleep I say to my hubbie..."isn't it hot in here??" His answer is no so I am chalking this up to just being hot because of hormones.

I take AD's and I have always had the theory that they keep my hot flashes from actually "flashing". Perhaps that is what the Lexapro is doing to you. Also, I am sure your doc told you this, but if not AD's can take 4-6 weeks to get to their full affect so don't be discouraged after just two weeks.

You will be okay. I just started Prozac about 3 weeks ago and it has changed my life!!! May not be for everyone but it appears to be working for me. Hang in there...

Don't worry about those flashes, they seem to come in all "shapes and sizes"! I've had them short and dripping, long and cool skin, short and hot skin...etc... I'm sure there more types in store for us! And yes, they can make you feel pretty miserable.
Usually I wake up with a big one in the morning plus a headache which wear off with a shower and coffee and visit to this forum! That's my morning ritual to get me started!
Actually I feel pretty warm the whole time, as if I had a slight temperature, but the thermometer says no! I think my thermostat isn't working! Can't wait for winter to come it's so hot now here in the south of Spain!
I've decided not to worry about all those 34 symptoms I get (they take turns!) ... Well, I'm working at it, anyway...
