So, this is something new for me. I have been having what seems like cramps scattered (moderate) throughout the month and they sort of come in waves sometimes. I have been feeling them since yesterday afternoon and I'm not due for my period for 6 more days (my birthday of all days!) I also felt them a week ago right around ovulation. It has been so long since I felt cramps that of course at first I thought that it must be something serious because health anxiety is a way of life for me now.. unsure.gif ! I used to get terrible cramps as a teenager with my period but these are not with my period. They seem too early. Anyway, I was wondering if any of you ladies experienced this. Otherwise, my periods are still rather normal in their timing it's just all the other syptoms that are driving me crazy. Any input on this would be creatly appreciated. Thanks all!

Hi i get this also. i have had most symptoms in the past year, this one freaked me a little to begin with, they dont last long, but i am convinced i am starrting my period each time. I dont though they just disapear i have noticed though i do some months get severe cramps when my periods do start, havent had that since i was very young, as long as your smear test as we call it in uk is upto date then i wouldnt be concerned, however if you find it gets worse always best to get things checked.
hope things get better for you x

HI,

I've had this as well. This last year I have been skipping up to three months but suddenly I have become regular again. My periods have been more normal meaning that I haven't flooded like I did a few months back but I am having the same all through the month cramping like you described a lot. I just chalk it up to peri like everything else mellow.gif

Thanks for your replies ladies. Once again ~ always good to run this by everyone to see if what I'm feeling is within the "normal" range of things. (if anything is "normal" these days!)

Alisa,
I was having lots of cramping when this all peri stuff started for me. The cramping was almost every day. It started getting better when I got an RX for anti-anxiety meds and progesterone cream. Now the cramping is not as ofter. I do notice it starting four days or so I start my period. I hope this helps.

Well, there you go. I got my period four days early. It's still weird though because I felt the cramping two days ago and around midmonth but NOT yesterday or the day before. You would think that the cramps would be right up until the period. Just when you think your've got it all figured out....*sigh*
Thanks ladies smile.gif

It's funny I just came across this post as I was about to start a post on this. I have been having cramping throughout the month also. I do get very bad cramps during my period and always have, but now they start exactly a week before my period (use to start on day 1 thru 3 of my period)and now last until about 2 days before I actually get it, then go away and come back the day of. I also get the cramping during ovulation among lots of other symptoms. This month ( a week before my period), i had this wierd pain (craMPING) IN MY LOWER right SIDE AND IT FELT LIKE IT WENT DOWN THE FRONT OF MY LEG AND INTO BY RIGHT BUTTOCK. aLSO MY SKIN WAS VERY SENSITIVE AND HURT TO TOUCH. This really scared me, as my aunt died of ovarian cancer at age 50, and was my age (44) when she got it. But the pain went away. But since then I've been soooooo tired, (but did get my period Saturday), and very spaced out, some dizziness, sinusy, extremely emotional,). Also, can anyone tell me if they think I'm having hot flashes? Would I get hot flashes even though I still get my periods regularly every month, and would I get them during my period? Sunday night after dinner, I just was so hot all of a sudden. My head (my whole scalp) was even sweating. Yes, it's been hot and humid, but this was more of a feeling of hotness coming form the inside out. Then yesterday while in Wal Mart it happened again and the rest of the day any time I went to do anything I would get extremely hot. My hair would be wet from sweat, and kind of a feeling of not feeling good. I am in the worst part of my period too. My head feels kind of swimmy. I just don't feel right and I'm really trying hard to not worry myself and think I have something awful. My husband said yesterday, "you're just going through the change". But with my period still being on time every month, I still find myself wondering if this is peri. I've been getting hot for a few years now, but this was worse than usual for me. Does this sound like hot flashes? I'm at work right now and just wish I could go home and go to bed. But when I do go to bed I can't sleep!! Sunday night I didn't get to sleep until 3:30 am and woke up at 7:30 am!! I got to sleep around 12:45 last night and did sleep til 7:15, but am sooooooooo tired right now!! I haven't been to the gym in 2 days because of being so exhausted and of course feel guilty when I don't go as I have so much more weight to lose. I have a gyn appointment next month, and usually does an internal ultra sound, so I guess I'll find out if there's anyting wrong. He did find a very samll fibroid during my exam last year, so I wonder what's up with that now. What a pain in the neck all of this is!!
Well, hang in there all. Hopefully we'll all be over this soon!!

Faith,
That sounds just like me! These crampy feelings just started this month for me though and yes it scared the s#*t out of me too! About those hot flashes. Yes, you can have them. I have to tell you that I can remember as far back as my 20's always having what I now know were mini hot flashes as my period was ending. They weren't much then, nothing that concerned me, but now, in hindsight I know it was due to the drop in estrogen. As I've gone through this perimeno journey thus far (2 1/2 years so far) I have come to the conclusion that maybe I was always a little on the low side with estrogen. I am now 43 (going to be 44 on Thurs.) and the hot flashes have been almost umbearable some months with my period ending. It got so bad that I told my wonderful gynocologist about it and I now am trying a drop of Bi-Est when I start the hot flashes. It seems to be doing the trick. I also started getting horrible migraines with my period. I always got them from time to time but with the peri they were coming right with my period. The sleeping also gets bad for me right before and during my period. I've recently been taking a Calcium Magnesium combo every day in addition to my multi vit. and have found myself to be much less jittery and sleeping much better. I used to get those annoying "have to move my legs" sensations as I was trying to get to sleep. Yes, we just have to hang in there!! wink.gif

Hi Faith.... I thought I was reading one of my own posts when I read yours. I am 45 ,and for the last six months I have weird cramping about a week before my period ...it goes away and comes back when my period starts. AND for the last three weeks I have had this pain that kind of comes and goes in my right side, sometimes the left ...in the lower abdomen... twingeing...front of my thighs hurting... I am really scared. I am going to the gyno friday and he will do an internal ultrasound. I had an ultrasoundabout six months ago because they saw a dermoid cyst on my ovary ,now i am afraid..... Oh I also get an anxiety attack almost everymorning. It is worse on days 10 to 26. Linda

I get the leg sensation as well its weird i have never been able to explain it, but always found if i got up and walked on them a min then they were fine again, i wonder what is, i had that before years ago when i was pregnant with my 2nd child, its the same feeling i guess hormones where all over the place then.

It's called "restless leg syndrome". I get that too. I had it the other night when trying to go to sleep and had to get up and walk for a few minutes. It's very annoying.

Yes, day 11 to 26 are also my worse days. Good luck with your Dr. appointment. Let us know how it goes. I'm hoping the fibroid he found last year hasn't grown or anything else. I hate this time of year with the mammogram, pap, etc... My grandmother and her sister both died of breast cancer at age 46, and then my Mom's sister at age 50 of ovarian cancer, so I always get pretty nervous when these appointments come up, but am very relieved when things check out OK. So, hopefully both of our appointments will check out OK!!
Take Care,
Faith

I get that crampy stuff through the month too. Today I've had it off and on (mostly on) all day and my period has been over since Sunday.
