hi ladies,
i am hoping that everyone with head pain, of any sort....or headAHCES will respond to me ...
first tell me how long you've suffered with head pain, and what type and where
secondly please tell me what you did you releive it !
I've been reading up a lot on rebound headaches, and most of these sites say that the main culprits are acetomenophen, and asprin.....it seems that the brain becomes addicted to these ingredients EVENTUALLY, and then begins to require them, so what the brain acutally does, is send out "pain" sensations, (apparently, even when there really IS no REAL pain) in order to receive the drugs it's addicted to! yeah, that was a surprise! so, I'm trying to stay off the Benedryl as much as I can, even though that ususally helps me, .... I usually suffer with that temple pressure thingy, but today it's moved to the top of my head, left side....i guess the darn thing moves around, i don't know. But, I know a lot of you guys suffer with head pains and aches, and I need to know what you did for it, and if it worked, and how long it took to work....you know, all the details..lol
When it moves to the top of my head, it feels like sinus, which is why I had first even started taking Benedryl.....but, I had been doing some thinking and realized that back in January, when this peri insanity started with me.....it began in my legs, and the pain and deep aching was HORRIBLE....so, in order for me to even LIVE, to say the least about sleeping, I began taking Tylenol PM....which, lo and behold, has acetomenophen .... well, back in January I didn't know a darn thing about rebound headaches..since I didn't ever really take to many things for headaches since I didn't get them to much, only sinus once and a while....so, I had begun to take the Tylenol PM fairly regularly all through January and into Feb. somewhat....THEN in mid Feb. this awful temple pressure started, so, I think MAYBE what began in Feb.because I had been taking the Tylenol PM all through January, and perhaps these were REBOUND symptoms ..... I don't know, it 's really just a thought, but the point is ..... I'm trying to "test" this, by staying off Benedryl if I can, at least lessening it a lot ...
so, if you ladies who suffer with head problems, would do me a favor, and post here as to what kind of head symptoms you've had, and where...and for how long.....and HOW YOU DEALT WITH THE PAIN .... I'd really appreciate it!
thanks ladies!!!!! Sincerely, MyDarling

My darling:
I feel for you I really do. I have had headaches kind of similar to yours for more than 20 years. I almost never have a PAINFUL headache, It is just a dull pressure. Usually in my forehead but when I was pregnant 19 years ago I had dull pressure on the top of my head (like a brick was setting on it) and it felt like a tight band wrapped around my head. I have been treated for more sinus infections than you can even imagine even though most of the time the only thing I had going on was the pressure in my forehead.
I finally determined on my own after all of these years that my headaches were due to two things. First, I have been having TENSION headaches all of these years. If you google tension headaches you will see that the symptoms frequently or a pressure in the forehead, top of the head, around the head or in the temples. Trust me when I say these ruled my life for years and everytime I started worrying about them and researching them on line they got worse. The second thing that contributed to my headaches, especially if I woke up with one was sleep apnea. Lack of oxygen will do that to you.
What did I do to get rid of the tension headaches??? First, I got my sleep apnea under control. Guess what? No more morning headaches. Second, I started taking a low dose of anti-anxiety med (Klonopin). I realize a lot of women do not want to go that route, but if you are literally barely getting through the day and not really LIVING your life then you should think about it. Third, I pushed myself away from the computer and avoided the health section of the book store so I wasn't worrying about it.
Trust me when I say I know how you feel. My hubbie used to say "it is just your allergies" and he did not know why it was so bothersome. Well, it becomes bothersome when the pressure is so bad in your head that you cannot think and it actually would make me feel slightly off balance. Weird huh?
That is what worked for me Darling and I do not regret for a second taking the anti-anixety drug. It restored my life. Hopefully you can get some relief soon.

I went through a period of about a month of headaches in late winter. now I am having some mild ones again on and off. In both cases, tension headaches. These can be caused by tight neck mucles and shoulder muscles, both of which I ahve. If it is tighter on one side, one feels it more on that side. Mine feel like pressure and tension in the scalp.

hi ladies,
thank you for responding! yes, I do take xanax, at this point, I wouldn't be without it! I've noticed it's helped with these headaches and temple pressure, so, maybe its tension to begin with. BUT, the way this LEFT temple thing started was to weird, i mean, one night back in Feb. I simply noticed a blue vein on my left temple, that I'd never seen before, and so, I began to touch it LIGHTLY, well, all I know, is that the next day when I woke up....the left temple felt as though someone was pressing their thumb into my temple .... not HARD, but ENOUGH....to cause concern. Since then, I've dealt with this on and off, some days are better than others, and some days, I don't have it at all, and somed days, as I said in t he first post, it morphs into head pressure on the top of my head, left side. This is why I'm really beginning to think it's either tension/anxiety, or hormones, especially since I"ve NEVER had anything like this before peri hit me.
Ladies, thank you for responding, and I do hope all of us with headaches, can somehow get the relief we need, there HAS to be an answer for this! I know some people have spoken of feverfew, and so, I'm off to the health food store to get some ... I may try the progesterone creme, but then again, I have heard some not to good things about using that....OH, I DON'T KNOW...for now, xanax to the rescue!!! LOL
Sincerely, MyDarling

I've had a headache (tension type) daily since April 14, 2006. I've been under the care of 2 different neurologists and went through several medications but had terrible side effects. I've done chiropractic, minimal hormone theraphy as that scared me, physical theraphy, occipital nerve block, and the last thing I tried was acupuncture and herbs which I feel I had the most relief from, or was it coincidental. I've had days the the past few weeks were I almost felt not tightness on my head. It's been a nightmare and I'm doing the best I can. I'm not where I was a year ago and that was hell with so many other symptoms that just about knocked me down - I thought I was dying. Things could be so much worse and I'm grateful that I can get up every day, walk my dog, pray, go to work....just do the little things in life.
