Hi, I'm 36 and just wondering what symptons you have/had? I'm experiencing the internal shakes at night (I should say early morning around 4 AM) every day. I also have muscle twitching (worse on some days then others) Extreme fatigue around my period and headaches! Plus buzzing and tremors in my body and let's see what else? Tingling and partial numbness or some days. I think I have just about every symptons on one day or another, but I do have the internal shakes every day. Just wondering how you're doing???

Hugs,
Yak

Hi there. I'm new to posting on blogs and lists so if I come off as an idiot, please don't think too much of it. I'm really a 36 year old educated, employed happily married mother of 3. I came across this website searching for answers to problems I've had for the past several months. It started in May 2007 with a near fainting episode that sent me to the emergency room. My blood pressure had dropped to 98/40. I'm normally low 107/70, but never that low! I had seen floaters and apparently had turned a funky shade of green. My hands and feet were very cold on the inside. Temps and blood sugars were normal. (I'm lucky to work in health care - so I had all kinds of nurses checking me out before I even left work that day). The ER diagnosed vasovagal syncope (I didn't actually pass out). Well, it happened twice more - once in June and once in July. I thought initially they were panic attacks - except I wasn't stressed out about anything and have actually made changes over the past year to decrease my stress. I counted these episodes out and discovered they were happening exactly 28 days apart - on day 14 of my cycle. I take birth control pills so I should not be ovulating. Anyway, several tests later, I am still searching for answers. The only thing diagnosed for sure has been mitral valve prolapse which runs in my family. With each of these episodes, I have had near fainting, pressure in my ears, neck and below my temples, visual distortions - someone said like looking through dirty glasses which explained it perfectly, cold hands, feet and neck, nerve type pain down my arm, dry mouth and some other things I can't recall. Oh, I also had a racing heartbeat during the first 3 days of my most recent period.

I did start seeing a chiropractor and he diagnosed atypical migraines which explained all of the wierd neurological symptoms, but not the near passing out and heart racing. My general practitioner wants me to take a hypertension medicine - but I am holding off of that since my blood pressure is so low normally. My OB/GYN did not want to see me in his office and laughed when I mentioned early menopause. But why do the symptoms happen on such a regular cycle. The chiropractor has helped, but I still feel nauseous at some point almost everyday. Lightheadedness comes every once in awhile. I spend about 3 weeks of my cycle scared of what will happen next. I think I take good care of myself - low carbs (mostly), no coffee/soda, limited alcohol, lots of H20. I've wanted to take up jogging, but I'm scared to. Any insights or comments would really be appreciated - Just some peace of mind would be good. My husband, God love him, is sick of hearing about this by now.

Sorry to be long winded. I'll cut way back next time.

Hi there!
I feel your pain and can sympathize with what you are going through. I had a horrible attack in June also and fainted on my bathroom floor. It occurred right at my ovulation time and since I started journaling my symptoms a while ago that is when all my bad symptoms happen. The way you described how you felt is exactly what I felt. I have had all the heart work up & blood workup as well - everything normal. I started many months ago with palps that sent me to the ER. Many months later I have tried very hard to calm myself and not get so health anxious but it's hard. Today I went for a hormone profile because I believe I have entered perimenopause and this website has been a blessing.
Some things that have helped me........Ativan in the beginning because I couldn't sleep, small dose of lexapro (2.5mg), magnesium drink at night before bed, exercise, staying positive and getting informed. This website is a blessing and makes you realize you are not alone.
I am 35 and didn't think this was possible but now I am comforted by knowing that it is and that I am not crazy!
I have been reading about MAD Migraine associated dizziness......... Describes our symptoms with the dizziness, nausea, faint feelings, ear fullness.....everything except the actual headache which you don't really get with MAD. I am ovulating right now and the past 2 days have been awful with all of this stuff, Excedrin Migraine has helped. I have always been a headache person and have suffered migraines in the past. The correlation with when everything happens makes complete sense to blame hormones.
Have you ever had migraines?
Reach out anytime , we are all here to help and listen. Hugs to you, Breezy

Good afternoon! Just to reply to Breezy - I haven't actually journaled these events - I think they have been ingrained in my head as much as I've talked about them to just about everyone I know! I used to get really bad headaches on the first day of my period when I was in my early 20s. I didn't realize they were migraines because I was still able to go to work and do everything else I did. I didn't get headaches during the years I was having children, but they came back a few years ago. Now I don't get them too often, but have added these other findings. I did get headache relief from Premsyn (PMS med) even if the headaches didn't happen at PMS time. I don't like to take too much medication, so I've tried to eliminate coffee and caffiene sodas. I refuse to give up chocolate - but I don't eat as much anymore. I have limited my alcohol intake, too. Just a social drinker, but don't really need to help these migraines out now, do I? The chiropractor and this website have been the only things to give me any peace of mind so far. I am so glad to have stumbled upon this site while doing a Google search of mid-cycle lightheadedness. Now I'm contemplating going off the pill. But my one doctor says that's the only thing keeping my hormones in check. A simple blood test (FSH and TSH) didn't show any abnormalities, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize something's not right. Knock on wood, I've felt pretty good for a few days now. I've never heard of the MAD that you mentioned. I'll have to look it up. Oh, I've also started taking baths after the kids are in bed and while the hubby watches Sportscenter. That helps me feel and sleep better, I think. Hang in there - it seems like this may be a long and bumpy ride!

Hi all,
This is my first time on a discussion board too! I just turned thirty a couple of months ago and I'm pretty sure I'm started peri. My period has gone from 5 heavy days to 36 hours with a couple of days of spotting before and after, I'm way more hormonally emotional than before, my breasts start getting tender like 1 1/2 weeks before my period, and I can FEEL when I ovulate way more than ever before. My doctor basically said that hormonal tests are inconclusive so that isn't really any help. So I'm pretty much functioning now as if I am in peri and working on getting a good start on the herbal remedies.

One question mark still... I'm actually home sick with flu-like symptoms but haven't thrown up yet. Could this be peri too? I noticed you all talking about nausea and headaches and that's exactly what I'm experiencing right now. It would be silly of me to take a bunch of sick days for something that might just be peri. In fact, I thought I was pregnant this summer because of the lighter periods and I was nauseous every day for like two weeks. Hmmm... haven't had hot flashes yet though, or tremors. Can't wait!!!
