Hi all.Its me again. This has been a hard sugar pill week.On day three, when I started to bleed my hormones hit bottom-I literally felt them going down, down, down.I also started getting this awful tension in shoulders and neck, mainly on the left, then came the left sided headache and facial numbness feeling. All of this starts the awful health anxiety. My dr told me headaches were normal on sugar pill week, but my head has ached off and on for three days now!Sometimes it is a dull pain, then throbbing, then a sharp pain every once in awhile.Should I be scared?Tomorrow I take my regular pill,I hope this headache goes away.Could the stress and muscle tension be making my headache worse?Hope someones knows,GOD bless.

The answer is one word -- absolutely! In fact, I can count on getting a headache when my neck and shoulders are tense. I also have problems in the lower cervical discs, so that pinches and causes all kinds of spasm and headaches. Try to watch your posture, especially at the computer. I think it's a major contributor to all of our head, neck, and shoulder problems, and of course, carpal tunnel!

My husband took a trip to California three years ago, and I was very stressed out, and I had a headache for an entire week. One day I was walking around the supermarket in pain, and I said to myself, this is ridiculous, headache go away! By golly, it went away! I am a firm believer that a lot of what we are experiencing now -- all the aches, pains and the anxiety -- can be controlled by telling ourselves everything is going to be okay, enjoy life, and let go of all of that tension we are storing up. I know -- it's not very easy. I'm working on it myself!

Lady E,

I hope I am reading this right—you are having difficulty with low estrogen symptoms during the days of your birth control pill pack when the pills do not contain hormones—is that right?

According to Vliet, you have some choices. Have you read her books? Her Stupid Ovary book I think has some info on what to do about low estrogen symptoms during the sugar pill days of BCP therapy. Unfortunately, my book is loaned out so I have to answer this from memory and not quote the book.

Options are to only take the sugar pills for 2-3 days and then start your regular pill pack. Skip the sugar pills for 2-4 four months and then have a period when you want to and deal with the low estrogen symptoms less often. Take extra estrogen (estradiol) in the form of a patch or gel during your sugar pills. The book explains this better, but hopefully you get the idea.

I think that if you do one of the things that Vliet suggests you will feel so much better. If I skipped my estrogen I would get headaches and muscle aches. Having a neck ache or head ache is a sign for me that I need to take more estrogen. It is amazing and almost like a miracle that I can have back/neck issues and head aches that completely go away when I increase my estrogen.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Thanks all for the replies.I too believe that I can control this better.I allow myself to become stressed way too easily these days.I also have had a lot on my plate these days so it is hard.I am unsure about using any gels,or estrogen patches unless my dr prescribes them,my dr is very nice, and she always listens,I am planning on telling her this week about my problems.More later--Elizabeth smile.gif

HI kiddo!

listen, this doesn't sound like anything to be alarmed at, honestly. I know what you mean about getting all worked up, and things that wouldn't have bothered us years ago, now seem to be larger than life! I don't take BC pills, but I've had the exact same symptoms, and stress and anxiety are a huge contributor! I agree about the comment made here on our posture, mine is terrible, and I'm always working on that, but naturally, I forget, and am a sloucher. I have to constantly remind myself.
I'm sure that our posture has plenty to do with our back and neck muscles feeling stressed and tight, and many of our neck muscles go up the back of our heads, causing aching, or that dull "pain" which I get a lot of! Even now, as I'm typing this, I'm getting that kind of dull ache on the left temple again! I've had that on and off today and yesterday. But , it's about 4 days before my period, so maybe that's it too.

Take care kiddo! Sincerely, MyDarling

well, thought I would give an update.I have taken two regular yasmin this week,my head feels better but I am still having twinges of pain,I woke up to a great big hot flash and my temper has been awful.Well, just a few minutes ago,my drs nurse called and said that my dr approved a months prescription of a new pill, the one I wanted and for me to start taking it today,or tomorrow whenever I get to the pharmacy.I have been praying about this, and LORD willing this will be a better pill for me.I had been concerned after reading some horror stories about Yasmin on the web-peoples anxiety getting worse, depression, etc.I truly hope the Zovia will be better.Pray for me ladies---Elizabeth
