Full Version: How Do I Count My Cycle
Power Surge Forums > Board Discussions > Am I Starting Perimenopause?
ShakingInHouston
Just have a question and was not sure where to post this. In counting the days in my cycle, I know I count from the first day of my period, but does that include the 2-3 days prior to my actual flow that are negligible at most? Those 2-3 days seems to be light brown sludge then I have about two days of normal flow with big clots then 2-3 more downs of brown sludge. Some months the flow with big clots is 3-5 days.

Sorry if this is terribly graphic, ohmy.gif but not sure how to count my cycle properly. They seem to start anywhere between 26 days and 33 days. Used to be every 28 days like clockwork.

Really would like to start skipping some so I would have further proof in my little mind that I am in fact in peri.

Any feedback is sincerely appreciated!

I have yet to skip a period but I firmly believe I am in peri.Do you have any other symptoms?

Hi Shaking,

When I was in the "2-3 day/brown yuck/spot before my period really got going" stage, I counted them as the beginning of my period. To me, this just seems right -- it's part of the whole thing, right? I think you can do what you want though -- just decide what seems most common sense to you. I was like you too, my periods were like clockwork, every 28 days. Then it all went crazy. That lasted for a couple of years, and now I'm skipping big time. I went 7-1/2 months without a period last year, then got a light one just last April. I haven't had one since. It's enough to drive ya crazy! blink.gif

LadyE:

My primary symptom is Anxiety Anxiety Anxiety. It is unrelenting. I have a bunch of others too like internal shaking, what I think are mild hot flashes (more like my chest just gets really hot), headaches and so on, but they don't bother me like the anxiety does.

I would count the very first day that you have any show (brown, etc...) as the first day. That's what i do and it seems to still be pretty regular when I count those days (give or take a couple of days here and there). I've also yet to skip a period. I also wish I would to prove that this is all peri!! I believe it is, but there's those thoughts in the back of my mind that like to come out sometimes that it's something worse!! unsure.gif But the symptoms really do come in a cycle, so that further convinces me it's peri. Are we having fun yet?!!! mad.gif
Take Care,
Faith
