Anyone out there more sensitive to medication since becomming peri? I can't seem to take anything anymore. I have been having these sinus headaches and my sinus washes just aren't cutting it. I took one 30 mg. sudafed which does raise my blood pressure a little if I only take 1/2 a dose and only once a day. I am now having a some pain in my chest. Don't know if it is the Sudafed, costochondritis or heartburn. I can't even take Ibuprofen anymore as it seems to agravate the heart palps.

Does peri causes worsening of sinus problems? I am betting it does cause mine have sure gotten worse!

My sinuses are 80 to 90% worse,no kidding!!Who would have thought hormones would effect that.Antihistimines dry me up worse than before, and I can't take my migraine pills because of the caffeine in them, they cause my palps to go nuts, and then the anxiety sets in.Hope you feel better,GOD bless.

Yes Steph - Peri, definetly made me more sensitive to meds, including vitamins. Any type of meds I start with 1/2 dose if possible - then after a few days, or if possible a whole week, then I'll take the whole med.

I remember when I first started taking thyroid meds - the Dr. had me started on .25 mg. - the first day I started with 1/2 pill - within an hour I felt like whoooo hoooo, what a burst of energy - felt like I had 3 cups of coffee. My Dr. said most people don't feel the effect of that med for a few weeks..and at a full pill. My daughter is on thyroid meds and said she doesn't feel different at all... The chemistry in my body is "sensitive". In addition - I get a rush with vitamines - so I always start out with half of the vitamine if possible - and then an hour later - take the other half.

I wasn't that sensitive to meds before peri... Hope you have a Dr. who understands your sensitive system.

I've had problems with medications since the beginning of peri. I developed an allergy (hives) to any aspirin based med, and caffeine added to pain reliever gives me instant palps and my system is much more sensitive to antibiotics. I never used to get any side effects, now I seem to have at least one to every med. It has to be hormonal, I used to be so "normal"!!!!! Arla.
