My dh and I have been trying to use the Fertility Awareness method for a few months now and I am noticing something odd. For one thing, my temp stays the same all month. There is no increase in temp after the middle of the month. The other thing I notice is that about 10 days into my month, I have a very wet discharge that last until my menstrual flow starts again. It is so much that I soak through about 3-4 panty liners each day.

Could I have too much estrogen and not enough progesterone? Any ideas? Oh, and I am nursing an 11 month old baby, if that makes a difference. She does eat mostly solids at this point, though.

Nursing (e.g., prolactin)suppresses ovarian function so it is entirely likely that you are not ovulating on a regular basis.

Have you started your period yet since the baby was born? My temp goes up when I ovulate. If I skip ovulation for a month my temp stays down. I do not know about the discharge. Is it mucus? Can you stretch it between your fingers? Is it clear? Your body may be trying to ovulate but is not quite making it. Are you trying to get pregnant? If you are trying and want to ovulate you could think about nursing the baby a little less which may help you ovulate. Do you nurse at night? I read a long time ago that nursing at night may be one of the keys to resumption of fertility. Someone at the La Leche League may have better answers.
