How are doctors treating postpartum depression these days? Hormones or medications? The depression I have associated with peri menopause reminds me of postpartum depression. Any comments?

No easy answers..there are as many treatments [almost] as there are women on this board!!! Some of us have had luck with AD's, some with hormones, some with herbals/soy, some with any conbination thereof.
Many of us (including myself) have elected to go the bioidentical hormone route, keeping close tabs on hormonal levels, trying to get them in optimal ranges. There are a number of physician transcripts on this board, you may want to peruse and see if anything resonates for you.
Good Luck,

I suffered terribly with postpartum depression, and was lucky enough to have an amazing therapist, Karen Kleiman, who is also the author of "This Isn't What I Expected," one of the classics on dealing with PPD. She believes in a combination of medication and therapy, which worked well for me. Medication alone just doesn't seem like enough; you really need the support and understanding that comes with therapy. Just my two cents.
