Did you all see a doctor to confirm your suspicions?

I have been feeling so off for awhile... first very short periods, then last month a very long one...only time in my life I was late except when I was pregnant. I was certain I was pregnant- nausea, sore breasts, I just FELT pregnant. I even prepared the speech i was going to give poor DH... But then, my period came. Now, here I go again with a very long period, even though I had weird spotting for a week way back in the beginning of this cycle. But the most troubling symptom is this horrible nausea, I can't stand it. I started searching the internet for nausea and perimenopause and found this wonderful board! So I am very releived, I think this is what is going on with me, even though I am only 39. ( I don't have any hot flashes if anything I am always cold).

I guess my question is, now what?? Should I see a doctor to be sure?

Thanks, and forgive me if this is a question already asked a million times- I have been reading, but it's so much (great) info!

Hey there.Welcome to the board.I am only 31,so I feel your pain!lol.I made a list of all my symptoms, tracked them, then went to the dr.She ran tests to make sure my thyroid, heart etc were ok,then checked my hormone levels-which at the time came back as normal. However with my periods changing shorter cycle, lighter bleeds, occasional flooding periods, hot flashes anxiety, panic attacks(hate those)she agreed that peri was the cause and prescribed a low dose bcp to help. They are helping,I still have bad days, but thank GOD the bad days are not as frequent. If your dr gives you the old"you're too young "treatment, insist that they listen-or find another dr.GOD bless and hope you feel better.

Regardless if you are entering menopuase of not, I think you should seek some professional medical advise. Woman are complicated creatures, and there could be a number of things going on with your body. I say .....get a full check up smile.gif
In the meantime.....menopause knows no age....(within reason)... so it very well could be the beginning of menopause, or 'Peri'. Hot Flashes are not necessarily the first sign, and some women never experience them....lucky devils dry.gif

However, notwithstanding seeking medical advise..... do not be surprised IF your Doctor poo' poos the menopause claim. Unfortunatley there are still many Doctors, both male and female who are far too quick to dismiss Peri-Menopause, as a trivial, non-complicated, 'all in your head'.....diagnoses. It is up to us, women across the world to continue our fight to be heard, in regard to Menopause!! ......Hmmmm.....I think I sense a raging venting post in our midst wink.gif

Once again ....Welcome to Power Surge....where no woman feels alone.
Cheers !!

thanks so much for the replies and the welcome! I am so relieved to know I'm not alone- I am a little less green today, but still struggling. I am going to find a doctor tomorrow and see what is going on with me. I am off to do some reading, so glad i found this board!!
