I wasn't sure where to start this post, but I'm back on the issue of thyroid and weight. My thyroid is enlarged, and my TSH is with in range, I'm eating healthier than I did in my 20's yet I can not shed these pounds. I am more than 50 pounds overweight and now also dealing with joint pains. I read about hypothyroid symptoms and I'm not constantly cold...matter of fact I'm always hot and dripping sweat.

My internal med. physician doesn't know what else to do since my tsh is with in the normal range. What should I suggest, what additional tests do I need? It's upsetting to not see any results, on my scale, after changing my way of eating and exercising. Even my doctor is puzzled and could only suggest portion control and a personal trainer. I've seen an endocrinologist about my thyroid and he stated is that many people live with a goiter for years (I guess that means I should also????????) and if I'm having hormone problems see a gynecologist. This was after a lengthy 3-5 minute office visit blink.gif.

Ladies, I need some direction. Thanks.

hi myfaith, sorry your feeling bad. you need to have your doctor run a blood test for free t3, free t4, and thyroid antibodies. these levels are very important to know. it doesn't matter that your not cold all the time, joint pain is def. a symptom, and sometimes they thyroid can wax and wane causing hypo and hyper symptoms. your thyroid problems need to be addressed further. you already know its inlarged, and you are having a hard time losing the weight.most of these docs, even endo. docs don't have a clue. i am going to send you a pm for a site you can visit and they can help you alot there. what was your tsh?
