Saw my gyn today..I had a recent estrodiol test that showed a measly 12 in spite of doubling-up on the highest dose estrogen patches. Also have not been able to absorb estrogen (micronized) or other by mouth, so he suggested I come in once a month and get an estradiol injection. Anyone else tried this?

I haven't, but I have a friend who does this every month.  It works well for her.

I have heard before that you may need to vary the injection site--otherwise it may stop being absorbed after a while.

I have had the estradial injection for 20 years.  I works great for about 2 weeks.  You first feel like you are getting a boost of energy, then the injection starts to wear off.  Only thing is that you get a good dose, then as it wears off, you get hot flashes and all the other things associated with hormones.  Then you will suffer from a headache at the end of each dose from it wearing off.  You also have to worry about scar tissue from the shots.  I just started a hormone treatment with the Dr. Warner on this site.  You may want to try him before going to the injections.  I feel he really knows his stuff.  Read his background.  And you can get an online consultation and he will start you on what you need.  These are alot better for you and you will be able to tell the difference.

Thanks for the good info, furnituregal.  I've read some of Dr Warners answers in the Power Surge Ask the Experts Area and they're terrific.

I had one comment on the injections, although I've never had them on a routine basis.  I'm allergic to so many medications.  I'm afraid that if I had an injection of something like this that I'd have an allergic reaction and couldn't get it out of my system fast enough.

At least, with pills, I can stop taking them and they usually get out within a few days or so.

Just something else to consider...

I tried the shots but they made me feel like I had PMS real bad until the shot wore off. I have heard other women say that had no problem with them. Not me!
