Hi, i am 42 and have been spotting for about 30 days. do not know how much longer i can stand this.Went to Dr she did bloodwork and everything came back normal-she said that bloodwork just shows if you are in menopause-not peri!!
She put me on ortho novum 777 to see if that would get my periods on track--it has been 8 days and i am still spotting
my question is--has anyone else been thru this and tried BCP and if so DID it work?? and how long b4 spotting stopped.
This forum is a great place!! Thanks

I didn't go on my BCP to stop spotting, but the dr said it can take up to three full cycles to get the full effect of any hormone treatment. You will probably see some results sooner than three months so don't give up.The hormones need time to build up in your system.GOD bless and hope you feel better soon.

I started the Yasmin for my horrible symptoms-Anxiety was one of the worst.I wasn't spotting, but my cycles had changed from 28 days to 24 or 25 up to 30 days between.I feel much better now(fifth month)Sometimes sugar pill week is hard, but it is getting better each month.I hate you are spotting like this,It must be interfering with your life.I hope it goes away soon.GOD bless.

Hi, hang in there "alimark" I done the same thing mine started at 39 period was 7 days late started spotted 2 days, then seven days later I broke out into a full bleed, bled 19 days straight went to gyn put me on birth control pills, he did have to change them to a stronger dose to get the bleeding stopped, but now they have me regulated.
Keep us up-dated with how you are doing and know you are not alone.

Last August I had a bout of very heavy bleeding for 12 days. A transvaginal U.S. showed a Myoma. I was given a Pro./Est. pill to take for 10 days to produce a thickening and shedding of the endometrium. The bleeding stopped after 2 days and as of the 10th day (last day of pill) I had a MAJOR period. He said if the bleeding stopped after 2-3 days then further testing (endo biopsy) would not be needed. After that I had 3 months B/C and haven't had a bleeding problem since.
I am not a hormone fan and think that if we can stay as far away from them for as long as possible, all the better.

I am now going to a ob/gyn on Thurs July 5th--the earliest i could get in. This spotting is driving me nuts--i thought it quit for a day but then when i wiped there it still was.. I have been on ortho novum 777 for a little over 2 weeks and the spotting is still going on. I just want to find out what is causing this so I can get it taken care of---however I do not want to have any surgery(that scares me) but depending on what they find I might have to!! I will keep you all posted!! Thanks

You are in my prayers-this whole peri thing has pushed me to the limit more times than I can count-I hate the fears and illness and worries, but deep down I know all of us are going to make it through and maybe then we can help others going through this as well.GODbless.

hi alimark,
i really sympathise with you, it sounds horrid. i have been on the yasmin pill for 4 years now, i took it for pmt, not spotting, but the bcp would provide you with sufficent estrogen and progestrone that your body reguires and it would balance everything out. my doctor told me i could take it right through peri and even through menopause, it should counter act symtoms and make the passage much smoother!
i am nearly 44 and all my family went through menopause early. i am definetely sticking with the yasmin
just look at all your options and keep an open mind, hope you get it sorted,

Ok--I went and had vaginal sonogram and was told that I had thickening of uterine lining--small simple cyst on left ovary--and could not rule out a polyp--I am going to a gyn on Friday--I am assuming that I will have a biopsy and was wondering what else I might expect.
Has anyone had this and it turned out not to be cancer--I am 42 and have been spotting for about 6 weeks with no full blown period as of yet--I take me last BCP which Dr just put me on this Thursday and I am hoping to bleed and shed some of that lining. Of course I am a nervous wreck--I hate waiting!!!!!
