hi all,

yesterday morning, I was out visiting a friend, and started to feel this bad sinus headache coming on. It kind of started in the neck muscle on the left side of my neck (the muscle just at the hair line, where your hair begins), it felt "tight", but then, within about 20 min.'s to a half an hour, i started to feel this sinus pressure and pounding in my head, on the left side (and on the top, on the left). A little while later, it seemed to go to my face, on the left. Now, I've had sinus for YEARS, some of those headaches were very bad as well. BUT THIS WAS A HUMDINGER! By the time i drove home, I was in such AGONY, i mean, BAD presssure on tthe top of my head (on the left), and face (on the side of the nose, and under my eye, on the left), and such INCREDIBLE POUNDING I thought I wouldn't make it home! I just FORCED myself to drive. I walked in, my son saw me, and said "oh gosh Mom, you don't look good!", I plopped myself down on the chair in the living room, and he began to message my head to help me. I had been feeling queasy from this, almost from the start, but I was able to keep it at bay. As i sat there, with him messaging my head, I thought, "maybe I should take a xanax, to calm down, maybe that'll help", because at the same time, i was starting to feel that hard to get a breath feeling, and I know from experience, THAT'S ANXIETY! So, I drank some decaf coffe, to put something in my stomach, and took a xanax, all the while, my head and face POUNDING LIKE I HAVE NEVER FELT IT BEFORE IN MY ENTIRE LIFE! I could feel the pounding with every heartbeat, and the pressure was out of this world. Well, within about 5 minutes, i broke out into a sweat on my face, and felt VERY VERY nauseas! Finally, I had to run to the bathroom, and THROW UP! Now, i haven't thrown up in YEARS! Since this peri thing started in January, I've felt "queasy" on and off, but not badly. But this was something else!
This was horrible, I've never felt that much pressure and pounding! I was shaking like a leaf, and stumbled back onto the couch, where i curled up in a ball nearly, and tried to ignore the pressure. About 1/2 hr. went by, and got up, and ate two pieces of wheat bread, to have somethig in my stomach, head pounding, and took Benedryl, I couldn't live on like that.
I went back to the couch, and fell asleep, and slept all day and night.

This mroning, I did feel better, the headache was gone, and so was the face pounding and pressure. I still felt very queasy though. I felt queasy all day actually, but was able to function, TO SOME DEGREE. It is now, around 10:45pm, and I finally feel "better", I feel that queasy feeling on and off still, but not much. A little while ago, i started to feel a little sinus pressure again, up on the head, on the left.......so, I quicly took Benedryl again, I'm trying to head it off at the pass, and it's working.

Now, would someone please give me their opinion, was that a migraine.? Most of my friends said it was, due to the vomiting.
They also told me that usually after that kind of migraine, you'll feel kind of "sickly' for a few more days as well.

If this was a "migraine", then it's my first! YIPPIE! Like i said, i've had sinus for years, and some of those headaches, have been pretty bad, but again, not like this! I was also told that sinus can develop into a migraine, and vice versa.....

Mydarling,

I have had some bizarre headaches in the last three months. Historically before peri I wouldn't have classified any of my headaches as migraines, I would however get headaches on ocassion prior to my period that I knew were hormonal and they normally would subside once my cycle started. I wouldn't get these all the time, just maybe three times a year and while they were annoying and typically wouldn't subside until I started I could function. Now I'm getting headaches that feel very much like sinus headaches (which I've had many times and am familiar with) but the ones I'm getting now are humdingers. They are accompanied by nausea and are so bad that I've been forced to go to bed a few times in a dark room without noise. I feel like I just want to put pressure on my head in the area of the pain to help alleviate it. No meds help....they just seem to make me even more nauseous. I can feel my head throb. In all of the cases but one I didn't really vomit just felt as tho I could..but the last time I felt this way I vomited a few times throughout the evening and just stayed in bed in the dark. The next day I felt better..still had the headache but it was not so bad. These make my eyes hurt and my teeth and I can feel them coming on and building up.

I believe these are hormonal...the timing has been close to my anticipated cycle start time and nothing seems to effect the headache but the passing of time. I never had what I would term a debilitating headache but I've been having them recently. All of this so frustrating. I feel as if I've lost two and half years of my life. I keep praying the Lord will give me strength to make it through this journey..and I know He will...

Hang in there...I can relate. I'm not sure if these are what one would call a true migraine or not...since I never really had migraines, but I know for sure these new headaches I've been getting are worse than any I've ever had before.

God bless,
TeeJay

thank you so much TeeJay! come to think of it, when this happened, last Thursday, it was a week before my period! so, maybe that had something to do with it. I don't know, all i do know, is that it seemed to start down in the back of my neck by the hair line, on the left side, that muscle area there. Then, it went up the head, to the top. I've had a little queasiness on and off since then, not bad. Today, nothing. Like you, i've had sinus headaches for years, but you said it....this was a humdinger! LOL!
thank you TeeJay!!!!

That without a doubt sounds like a true migrane to me. The crushing pain that yes, goes through your face as well.
I still think that you could very well benefit from massage and or Physical therapy. I don't know how insurance works over there but maybe you could find out. Treat yourself to some Dead Sea salt baths. Maybe if you get some tension out of your muscles you'll find some relief. You've had a lot of worry in the past and need a break to catch your breath and recoup. I could pm you if you like and tell you about my problems with stress/muscle tension and how I am finding relief!
Hope today is a better one

You must believe in yourself. I had the same problem.

That sounds like a migraine to me. I'm really sorry that I have yet another fellow (sister) sufferer of one of lifes most painful tortures.

I started with sore eyes on Tuesday and then a heavy headache. Yesterday I spent most of the day in the garden powerwashing. It was bright and sunny. When I came in I had my evening meal, then realised I had a blank space when I looked at anything....then along came the flashy zigzags. I can usually stop them with a Nurofen but this one took two pills and I laid on the bed and went to sleep. I think I had my last one last September. GGGGGRRRRR ...why do symptoms come back!!! mad.gif mad.gif
