I'm going through peri-pause been going on for over a year now... Anyway the 2 to 3 months my health anxiety has been going through the roof. It seems like I'm constantly looking for things to be wrong with me, its about to drive me insane. Several days ago I found a small lump between the top of my rib-cage and breast, it doesn't hurt nor does it feel like a knot just a bunch of fatty like tissue.
Has anyone ever had this, its proably been there for years and just now discovered it..... My sister felt of it and said sometimes we get was old timers called fat grissles under the skin or the more proper name fatty tissue what causes this???
I have been obsessing over it, anytime I find one little thing or one little pain my anxiety goes over the roof, I go into panic and worry mode. I start crying, and shaking. My Dr. has me on colonizipam/colonipam it seems to be helping a little but not enough, should I ask for something else???

Thanks so much to everyone

Hi,
Get the lump checked out to reassure yourself. A few of my family members had lumps in various places and were all a "nothing" lumps that didn't even have to be removed. good luck!

sdblue,

Do I know how you feel........I've have terrible health anxiety during this perimenopause phase of life and I have everything checked for my own reassurance. Why not do that for yourself - it really does help. Good luck.

sdblue: It's called a fatty lipoma. I have one too, between my left breast and my shoulder. Nothing to worry about, but you are smart to get it checked anyways. I'll bet you a date with Brad Pitt it's nothing. (Ok, so I'd have trouble paying up....)....hang in there, hon, you're not alone....let us know what happens....

Hugs,
Robin

Well Ladies, went to my family doctor showed him the lump sure enough fatty tissue, I went on a diet last summer and lost 35 lbs he said sometimes loosing or gaining weight can bring them on, and sometimes not he said lots of people have them and they don't know it until like me they accidentally discover it. He did say for me to keep taking my nerve medication however I was only taking a half of a pill in the morning and a half at bed time for 10 days he wants me to take a whole one at bed time and a whole one in the morning.... After 10 days only take them when I feel nervous, well little does he know I feel this way more times than not, he thinks all this panic and anxiety is not due to the change simply because he says the birth control pills should be taking care of the hormones, sorry but I have to disagree with him even on the pills you still have problems with menapause.... But he did give me a hug and told me I was wonderful person..... That made me feel good.
I hate this whole menapuase, crying, nervousness blubbery mess when will it be over??? No one knows but the Good Lord above.
Thanks Guys You all are great as always.

Hi sdblue and RoundRobin

I have the same fatty tissue lump but mine is on the right side between my breast and the area that goes towards your underarm. I had mine checked out immediately by mamogram and ultrasound and needle biopsy and all came back conclusive that it was fatty tissue (like I needed more fat on my body lol laugh.gif )

I am supposed to have a regular breast check up with my breast surgeon yearly but since this peri thing started I have been suffering with severe health anxiety and can't pluck up the courage yet to go for my check up. I know deep down that I am okay but my stupid mind says otherwise illogical I know but thats the way I am for the moment dry.gif

Anyhoo you did the right thing and can put your mind at ease..........I just wish I could get this fear of the medical profession out of my head.... unsure.gif

Well Health Anxiety has been terrible for me the last four months, I have done more self diagnosing than you could even imagine. But, I'm having a very hard time tonight, My uncle passed away today of cancer battled it for over a year, started out in the lung, than found two tumors in the brain, sadest thing about the whole ordeal is he went completely blind three weeks before passing, so this is making my health panic issues even worst, and I even feel bad for saying that, I have cried off and on all day. Pray for my mom and her sibblings this is the 3rd sibbling they have had to die of cancer in the last 10 years.
I'm having all kinds of emotions, anger, sadness.... I'm having a very hard time dealing with the change of life, health anxietys, and now dealing with the loss of my family member.
However I know that many many people deal with this everyday, I'm very thankful that I got to tell him goodbye before he went into a coma.

Thanks Guys for everything

It's true that most lumps and bumps end up being nothing serious at all, but it is always a good idea to have them checked out. I'm glad you did.

As for those dreaded lipomas, I have two. One the size of a kiwi on my right side (on ribcage) and one the size of a blueberry on my left hip (I now notice my tendency to compare things to fruit - hmmm - another peri symptom - preoccupation and fascination with food). Both are unsightly and I am very conscious of them but removal is considered a cosmetic procedure and I can't afford that kind of silliness. The one on my ribcage actually hurts the week before my period--I don't know why, it just does and always has. I've had the ribcage one for 17 years now and the hip one for about 11 years.

I'm cystic and lumpy by nature I guess. Last year I had the scare of my life when I found a lump in my right breast. After two exams by different doctors, a mammogram and an ultrasound, I was diagnosed with harmless fibrocystic breasts changes. This lump bothers my greatly if I take in too much caffiene or chocolate - can you believe that? I mean, my two favorite things on the planet and they make my breast hurt. Suffice it to say, once in a while I play through the pain for a latte or a piece of dark chocolate.

Anyway, I'm so glad you're doing OK and that you checked it out. Better safe than sorry. And welcome to being lumpy.

Anna

Blue,

I am so sorry about your uncle. It is hard to lose our beloved family members.

I another than has the fatty lump, mine is on the ribcage below the breasts. It got smaller when I lost weight, but didn't disappear. Oh well, such is life. Try not to worry. I know, easier said than done. I hope the ADs will help with the health anxiety.

Take care and big hugs.
