I have a question....I got my period June 1st, it was 4 days late, now today I know I am ovulating!!! The crampy feeling with the backache and increase in vaginal fluid. I use to ovulate on day 14, then it went to day 10 now this! Has anyone ever had this happen to them????

Hi Momof6kids: I do that too. My period is really getting weird and I can ovulate just days after I have my period. It is good to know I am not alone. I found it odd at first also but now I am used to it. When I don't have that feeling, then I seem to skip a period.

I meant to post here a while ago. I got a period on June 2, then ovulated on June 6. At least I think it was ovulation. So I expected a very short cycle this time around, but nothing as of yet. I used to ovulate around days 9-12. I had a short cyle a couple of months ago, just 15 days, then I had a normal one of 24 days, then I had a 33-day cycle (I ovulated very late that time), and now I don't know what to expect!

Can anyone explain why we ovulate early or late? I remember reading something about a short follicular cycle, but can't remember where I read it, LOL! I'd like to know what the hormones are up to when this happens.

I had the ovulation feeling right after my period this time-glad to know I am not alone. blink.gif

Yes, my ovulation has been coming much sooner after my period than it used to. It is usually not as painful as it used to be (knock wood) but I can tell it's happening mostly from the dang jelly (sorry to be gross) I never used to get. Blech. My cycle has gotten a few days shorter, too.

Oh, this is all so much fun... sad.gif

My compounding pharmacist told me that oddly low estrogen causes us to ovulate sooner in the cycle for a while duringf perimenopause and then it gets farther apart later. BEfore I started the BHRT, I was uusally ovulating on 10th day and getting period 24th day, when in od days it was 14th day and period 28th day. On the BHRT it has crept up to ovulating on 12th day and period on 26th day.

I also think it is nature causing faster cycles hoping we will get pregnant one last time before it all fails.

So with all that said, is it a safe assumption that we have a higher chance of getting pregnant at this time? Because we cannot predict when we'll ovulate?

I can tell when I am ovulating. I get this pain as if someone has a dull knife in my behind. It is very painful and the worst part of it lasts a half hour or better, then after that it is just a feeling of air pressure when I sit down. That part is there most of the day. This has always come about a week after the end of my period

I've had this happen a week earlier in my cycle lately, and I just thank my lucky stars I didn't have sex during that time. I could predict when it was safe one time, because that feeling came the same time every month, but now it can come any time. I can no longer say to myself, "OK, I have my period now, so I am safe for the next 10 days" I may just get over my period then start to ovulate

I don't have any desire for it most days now, and I think that what is triggering the disinterest is a higher chance of getting pregnant.

I am 49 years old, so I really don't think having a baby would be a good idea. LOL I'll wait for grandchildren at this stage of the game, tyvm.

I have theworst anxiety days 9th-12th of my cycle, almost few days after ai finish my period. On top I get cramps, back aches, bloated and horrid mood swings. Some months I have this twitchy pain in my lower abdomen, which is called mittleshmitz (spelling), and is believe indication that ovulation has occurred. But not only every months, so I think ovulation is now intermittent. But my periods are not 28-31 days apart and last 3 days, no heavy bleeding. I never ovulated right after my period, so I am sure it has something to do with wicked perimenopausal hormones. I also see changes immediately in my digestion: a bit constipated, heart burn, but the worst - anxiety, adrenalin rushes and mood swings. Good news, that TOM is getting further apart, no skipped periods yet.
I attribute these symptoms to a very high LH that is trying to make my ovaries to squeeze out another egg, and when it foes not happen, this high level of LH combined with estrogen drop makes me feel the worst. Then it gets better, and the symptoms repeat few days before TOM, but much lighter than during supposed ovulation time.
Good to know I am not alone though. I have been "mapping" it for few month and finally figured out, it must be the hormone swings.
I have also learned to take additional 0.25 Xanax 1st thing in the morning during this time of the cycle to avoid major panic attack with all "bells and whistles" later in the afternoon. Normally, I just take one 0.5 before bed but ovulation drives anxiety sky high.
I have appointment with a new and supposedly good Gyno lady end of July, so I will bring it up and may be she will help to resolve it or at least, explain it better. unsure.gif
