Full Version: Can bone density tests detect fractures

I have had severe lower back pain(very low) for weeks. I don't recall doing anything to strain it. In 2003, when I was 43 or 44,
I had a bone density test which I believe showed a T score of -2.4 (I think) I recall it being just a notch from osteoporosis. My hip was not bad though. This is so intractable, I'm wondering if I have full blown osteoporosis now and maybe fractured something. It hurts no matter what the position, and tramadol doesn't touch it. I've had so many health things, I can't deal with anymore, as I should get a bone density test again, I'm wondering whether that would actually show a fracture etc.
I know I have horrible disc disease in the cervical spine and shudder to know what is going on in my back. I've been to the doctor with so many horrible things and received no relief that I can't deal with them anymore, but I am in bad pain.

Lidge,
Definitely see your doctor. They may do a spinal xray or MRI rather than another bone density test to see if there are fractures or disk problems. But don't delay especially if you are having constant pain.
