Hi Ladies,

Does sexual function every return if you don't take hormones? I just became post-menopausal at age 58. I had periods regularly until age 57 and now this problem. I'm taking estrogen but may have to stop due to my violent reaction to progesterone. Is there any hope of things returning if I stop using BHRT?

Thanks,

Hi

I'm no expert but am replying because noone else has.

As I understand it sexual desire / function does return after the menopause because the ratio of testosterone to estrogen alters (ie lowered estrogen allows the testosterone to be more dominant), so we feel the effects of our own natural testosterone more by not taking HRT. Hence older ladies with hair on their chins maybe?

Hope it resolves itself soon for you

Desire does return when the body is finally left to finish its new design. That's 'key' because you DO change. You become way more than you were before!

Oh boy Buttercup - you have me in stitches!
"You become way more than you were before!"
You do mean quality and not quantity, don't you?
Otherwise you're going to get me seriously depressed.... biggrin.gif

I've heard that it is the testosterone that causes desire, too.

But when I think about it, I don't know that I believe it. I mean, when I was in my 20's and 30's, my libido was high--so was my estrogen, but not my testosterone. So it is another thing medical people tell us that doesn't make sense to me.

I always thought it was estrogen that gave desire, but my estrogen is low, low, low, but the lower it has gone, the higher my libido.......enough said. blink.gif The only problem I did go through was having a high libido but difficult to "get to the big O", but even that has settled at the moment, and I also remember my adoptive grandmother teasing my grandpa that she would love him as he was when he was young but now days he could not manage it. She was in her 80's, and he was in his 90's......it was funny to hear.....poor granpa...... laugh.gif

Hi friend
There is another medicine also available for same issue. People can use cialis, Levitra also. Cialis is also good but Levitra is newest and much better. Its much better for men’s health issue .levitra has a fewer side effects than other medicine. The main advantage is that people can use Levitra when suffering other conditions like high blood pressure; diabetes etc levitra can be order online at http://www.levitrabliss.com
