I am a sixty year old woman who of course is postmenopausal. Recently had an episode of itching mainly on my belly and some on my back and arms. That subsided and now I have this strange prickly feeling on and off on my head, arms, legs and belly. It is almost as though bugs are crawling ...

My doctor did a comprehensive blood test, including liver profile, thyroid, etc..and all tests came back negative. I am very frustrated and sometimes worried that there is an systemic underlying reason for it. I am also wondering if this can be hormone related. Has anyone experienced this kind of symptoms...?

I think it was quite good for you to get the blood tests done so that more serious underlying issues could be eliminated. However, you do not mention if your Dr requested a urea/electrolyte test to be done for you? If the urea and electrolyte levels in the blood were in any way raised then one may experience the kind of symptoms that you have. This is not to say that this is the case for you. but I believe that it would be good as a starter to have this test done to eliminate this possibility. You could also be allergic to certain foods or washing up powders/chemicals. Try to ascertain whether you are allergic to these.
If you are taking any medications that your Dr has given you this may be causing the reaction. Check side-effects on leaflet and tell your Dr if you experience alergy from the medications. Another possible cause of your problem could be parasite infestation. There is cream that you apply on your skin that kills mites and scabbies available only on prescription. If that doesnt work then try herbal remedy comprising of Black Walnut,Wormwood and Cloves that helps to destroy Gastrointestal parasite infestations. You take this for about a week or two. You can obtain this from Baldwins herbal remedies at www.baldwins.co.uk HOWEVER DO DOT USE THIS REMEDY FOR A PROLONGED PERIOD OF TIME AS WORMWOOD IS TOXIC AT HIGH DOSES AND AT PROLONGED PERIODS.
