I am SO FRUSTRATED!! I can not get my skin to clear up. I ALWAYS have a pimple or 2 on my chin area. And they arent always just small. Some get very large and stay OPEN for days! Just about the time i get down to 1 and think i am getting cleared up, 3 more start!

I have cleaned my face with everylthing i can think of but it seems more than that.
I didnt have this bad skin even in puberty!!
I have had this condition for months or maybe even a year and I dont know what it could be related to. Should I go and spend money on a dermatologist? Is it menopause related? I am 51 and dont want to have to cover up pimples for the rest of my life.. I dont see other women with this type of problem.. what am i doing wrong?

I could use any suggestions or advice or just any ideas..
thanks

Dear Eleanor
Ahhh Yes...gotta love menopause.....puts you right back in those teen years....without that girlish figure laugh.gif

I have been having some bouts of pimples on my chin area as well, since I started this peri ride. I am 52, and I am NOT AMUSED!!

I have been using Clarins Gentle Exfoliating Refiner, followed by Clarins Pore Minimizing Serum with great success. I have also been known to ...AHEM...'borrow' my daughters Pro-Active Solution. Works like a charm smile.gif

Good Luck.....and don't think for a minute that you are the only woman going through this......Psssttt....they are just better at 'covering' up wink.gif

~ Cheers ~

Oh Thanks DotCalm2u - (cute name!) - I am going to use your suggestions and support.. If all that fails maybe i could just let my chin hair grow out and then noone would notice the pimples tongue.gif OH YEAH I LOVE MENOPAUSE
I guess I will go now and find my kids PROACTIVE..

thanks again

Hi Eleanor,
I too started to have a problem with pimples showing up constantly on my chin or above my lip last summer. I had never had any problem with my skin, ever, so I was definitely really concerned too thinking that this was a problem that was here to stay. At times it looked like I had an extra chin growing. Dot is right Pro-Active is good. I also found something that really helped me - Neutrogena Visibly Clear Deep Cleansing Wipes. Since I started to use these once a day (usually at night) any little spot that shows up seems to get stopped in its tracks. It has worked the best for me. Arla.

Eleanor,

I had the same problem - also after having minimal breakouts as a teenager. One thing to keep in mind is, this too shall pass. And, Almay coverup worked great for me. Good luck!

Eleanor,

I too have begun using ProActive and it works like a charm. Like you, never in my life have I had any breakouts even during my teens, etc. It was rare for me to have any type of breakouts until just about a year ago (I'm 49).

One of my very young co-workers suggested ProActive and it worked within a week. I had heard that you can go into a mall and there are kiosks set-up but not in my local town so I just ordered on-line.

Strange, that after all these years and being on the "other side" of peri, that my skin would break out in little bumps - not really pimples. I am glad my skins looks better and that it doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

Good Luck,
-Tina

Something a little cheaper than ProActive is just plain old benzoyl peroxide 2.5%. Wash with a gentle cleanser then apply nothing stronger than 2.5%. Start out once a day (evening) then work up to twice a day if tolerated. Itchiness & redness are side effects but they usually go away once you face gets used to it. I never got much acne as a teen but when I hit my 20's and into my late 30's it got bad at times. I have been on all sorts of stuff with my last resort being Acutane (I will not use that). I then read about just using benzoyl peroxide and it really works. Remember your face could get worse before it gets better but it has worked for me. Benzoyl peroxide is a antibacterial. It is a bleaching agent so can bleach clothes and even pillow cases.
