Hi everyone

I am 48 and am in perimenopause. I still have periods but they are very short and light. I also have hot flashes, tingling, and wierd skin sensations on and off. I have noticed the last 6 months or so that I bruise more easily. When I scratch myself hard[I have acrylic fake nails!!!] I get little bleeding spots under the skin.[[petechiae] I sometimes have several tiny petechiae blood spots on my thighs . The skin on my thighs is easily bruised...even if I pull the skin hard I will get a little bleeding under the skin spot. The spots go in a day or two. I went to the dr and platelets/ blood tests are normal. I read on the net thet a symptom of menopause can be bruising more easily.Has anyone else experienced this???I know the skin gets fragile way after menopause, but I didnt think this could happen in perimenopause. What do u think?????/ Thanks for any replies, Alleycat from Australia.
Hi Alleycat,
The real good thing is that you got it all checked out and you are good to go. I will say I have always bruised easily and had lots of bloody noses as a kid.
I did notice that recently when I was helping a freind with some heavy cleaning and lifting that I brusied terribly on my thights. So what I did is put on some Vit K cream and rubbed it in for a few days and they went away.
Hope this helps, of course like with eveything else you can ask your doc about this.
