I have developed a red rash on my chest. Like a v shape as if i have been sunburt, though I haven't been in the sun. There are lots of little broken veins and a mass of raised bumps. This is not itchy but I feel like I am being pricked with pins.

My face is fine (well the skin is!!) Would anyone know if this sounds like rosacea?

Furball,
I thought rosacea had more to do with rashing on the face (my mum had it during peri-menopause), but I'm not sure if it can affect other areas, too. You might try googling it, and see what you find out. I've had bizarre rashes at times in peri, so it may be one of the endless number of "symptoms."
Hope you feel better soon,
JJ

Hi JJ
Yep I think you're right - this doesn't seem like rosacea. The rash has now spread up my neck and looks like thousands of little blisters. It's very itchy at night but not so much during the day. I'll add this to the list of "weird things happening to my body"!!

You get poison ivy from being exposed to the weed. It has something in it that causes skin rashes to humans. I am in the USA and notice you are not. I dont know if they have this weed where you live..but it causes lots of itchy, red, sometimes blistering oozing rashes here in the states..especially to children and people who work outdoors around plants etc.
You dont even have to be exposed personally to the weed. In winter..we have no "greens" in my area..and my daughter would end up with this on her chest. She would get it from holding her cat..who must have brushed against the dry poison ivy..and transferred the "dust" to my daughter.
My daughters first case was so bad..that her face swelled up.
My husband was a landscaper..and always ended up with poison ivy, even tho he knew exactly what it looked like. Out of my 3 children, two will get it..one doesnt get it..and neither do I.
Anyway..I guess other rashes can blister..but this is what came to my mind when you mentioned blister.

Thanks a lot for the input on the rash. From what I can find on google I don't think poison ivy is often found here in Ireland. Rash is just the same - seeing doc tomorrow. Maybe the mystery will be solved then!! Thanks again for your replies -much appreciated.

I have a patch of rosacea near my nose and a bit on my chin. The patch near my nose had some small bumps. I was given Metronidazale (sp?) cream to treat the areas twice daily. The cream is some kind of topical antibiotic. I've been using it for a couple of months now and the areas have improved slightly. Hope you find a solution that works for you.

Had another thought....could it be hives?

I get hives from certain prescription medications, but they can be caused by food allergies and even stress. Hives are very itchy bumps and they love to develop in warm parts of the body. You can take over-the-counter Benadryl (Diphenahydramine) or get a injection of adrenaline from your doctor. In my opinion, a cold shower (if you can stand it) works best of all to calm the itchiness. Good luck!

Thanks so much, ladies, for your input on the mystery rash! Had visit with dr. today and he says it is prickly heat!!! He said it's not at all unusual to develop prickly heat during peri if you are having sweats. Feel a bit silly now.....thought it was something serious!! Once again many thanks, Furball x
