Hi.
I found what everyone has wrote interesting.

I am 45 pre-menopause.
Have since Christmas been on Norethisterone 5mg.
I would like to ask:
Does anyone take less mg than 5mg?

I find them for stopping the bleeding, as I was 'flooding' but I have bad acne on my back and I have never in 45 had acne and hate it.

Any answer to help me out....PLEASE!
How can I stop the acne these great tablets are giving me?

Thank you

Hi I am 39 and taking these also, they have regulated my periods, and helped with some symptoms, but i get acne as well i just thought it was another peri symptom not so much the tablets, i take 5mg 3 times a day for 8 days, they have helped me alot
i think this time of our life, we have to go with whatever works on the worst of the symptoms, then worry about the rest at a later date,
This will probably settle down in time. finger crossed i know how you feel

Hi, I was put on 15mg of this daily after a d and c for hyperplasia. I had headaches on breaks so took it constantly for 4 years. It didn't give me acne and seemed to lessen anxiety. It took about 4 months for me to settle on it though. I needed this high dose else got spotting and pms type feelings. Being close to a bleed can make people feel depressed and they blame the drug, when really the dose is actually too low. My gyno at least realized this!

Acne is one of the side effects of Norethisterone because it is a 19-Nortestosterone derivative. This means it has androgenic properties which may lead to acne & other testosterone-type side effect. There are other types of progesterone/progestins which have anti-androgenic effects so you may want to see if your dr. can switch you to a type that does not lead to acne.
