Regarding the instruction for cutting the patch in half and taping the edges and continue using it that way for a month: Does this mean I should wear the two separated halves of the patch at the same time? When I "tape" them together, is it regular scotch tape I should use? Is the idea to keep both halves of the circular patch together in the same skin area?
Now I need further clarification on the other instruction for patch weaning: It states that the patch should be worn an extra day before changing it for the week. Then just one patch a week is worn for two weeks and then it is discontinued. Am I understanding this instruction correctly?
Many, many thanks for your patience. This has certainly been a frightening ordeal. Every day we are bombarded with more bad news about hormone therapy. I've been wearing the patch for a year and three months. I can't go "cold turkey" off of it, because I've tried doing that before with the oral HRT and it was a trip to hot flash hell. The abrupt discontinuance of the therapy wreaked havoc on my body.
On one hand I am anxious to stop the therapy immediately, yet I know I'll suffer if I do. On the other hand I am very anxious about the latest study released yesterday regarding HRT and breast cancer.
Sorry for being so long-winded. Again, thanks a million.
Hopefully someone with actual experience will answer, or you could ask one of the Experts at Power Surge Ask the Experts. Weaning off HRT is a "hot topic" these days, and I'm sure that one of the doctors there could give you some good advice.
Best of luck to you!
Many, many thanks!!
