do you have any other symptoms? my inner labia are gone, but that's due to Lichen Sclerosis in my case.

Hi,

I read in The V Book by Elizabeth Stewart that this offen happens in women who are not on hrt. It is really surprising how many things we have to deal with in pre and post menopausal years.

Just adding my two-cents......, i was doing online research on menopause, etc...and came across before menopause & after menopause pictures showing changes in labia. Apparently this does happen.

I've been looking for photos like that. Do you have a link? My inner labia has been getting more stretched out and darker so I don't what you guys mean by disappearing. (Then again I'm in my early 30's.) The outer seems less plump for sure. I was thinking about BioHRT to help with the whole area looking so different.

I seem to be having the same problem. Half of one side of my inner labia is just not there anymore, leaving the inner tissue irritated and painful. My APN discovered this two days ago. Needless to say, my husband hasn't been a happy camper for the past couple of months. I am now using my Premarin cream externally at bedtime and Triamcinalone in the morning. I filled a Rx for Estradiol tablets today after discontinuing HRT five years ago due to the scary news. Will the labia ever be normal again, or should I tell hubby to find a younger babe? Has anyone had this problem? Thanks for helping. oldie but goodie

I am just about 50, and have had no HRT, and have no labia changes at all, in fact I don't even have the dry problems and yet I am close to the end, it is one symptom I don't seem to be getting, and my estrogen is almost on zero, nada. Internal exam revealed very healthy tissue, and my doc told me that although changes do occur, they are also genetic as well, and not all women get these "down there" things, but he did advise me to moisturize to prevent anything ever happening. He said that the secret to true vaginal/internal/external health was prevention before changes set it. I would start with lots of moisture girls!! wink.gif

dry.gif Hi Zen,

You are the first person on this board I heard of who has Lichen Schlorisis. I've had it since my 30s. IT's gotten a little worse the past year with dryness. I use Clorbetesol (sp?) at least 2 times a week, sometimes more. There's nothing that can be done for it that I know of.

WriterMom - yes i know.. there's no known cause, and no known cure.. it's awful isn't it? i have patches of this all over most of my body now, last to appear was a patch on the back of one hand... the dermatologist i see says this only happens in about 10% of those with LS. lucky me. mellow.gif i hate it. i keep telling my husband if it starts on my face, i am never leaving the house again! he suggested a burka.. ever the joker, i don't know what i would do without him..... we don't have clobetasol in australia, but i have used many strengths and mixtures of ultra potent corticosteriods with no affect, except to lessen itching. now i only use it for the itch, and just use a moisturising herbal ointment or cream in between. i can't use that much strong steroid cream over most of my body, i'd have to use handfuls of it, and it's not good for a person!
