My new combination of a higher dosage thyroid med (my TSH was off the charts) and Prozac seem to be doing their job. The only peri symptom I have now is the infrequency of the periods. I wonder now how much of the symptoms I did have are thyroid-related? No hot flashes (but to be fair - they did leave BEFORE meds started), brain fog is lifting, moods have stabilized, the weird "heaviness" in my hands and legs are gone, the constant sinus/headache/flu-like symptoms are gone (I am now on Allegra-D), sleep quantity and quality have improved vastly. It's like I have my old "me" back. Or maybe this is just a pleasant dream I will awaken from in a sweat-drenched tizzy laugh.gif

Point is hypothyroid (as well as hyper) symptoms mimic other problems. Be worthwhile having levels checked.

And I have to add that a wonderful, caring doctor is worth his/her weight in gold. This new doc (a D.O.) I started going to has been just amazing.

For now I will just enjoy happy.gif

You are very fortunate to have found a wonderful dr, I haven't been lucky at all having been through 2 board-certified supposedly "well-versed" endocrinologists who were totally clueless when it came down to thyroid disease and it's symptoms. I have Hashimoto's disease which eventually rendered me hypothyroid. I used to be on Synthroid but it was the last drug i should had been on so I urged my PCP to put me on Armour (dessicated natural thyroid)....i'm finally living my life again, now dealing with adrenal fatigue and i'm taking Hydrocortisone, one symptom of low adrenal function is sweating, i didn't know that until someone on another website mentioned it. Otherwise almost all my hypo symptoms have improved, all except the lack of periods, i only had one so far this year,it's probably peri setting in too. All the symptoms i was having made me believe i was in early menopause except it was actually my thyroid (i was 42 at the time, i'm now 44).
