I have been reading all the info on weaning off synthetic hrt, but my regimen doesn't seem to fit the mold.  For 4 years, I have been taking 0.3 mg. of Premarin every day, and Provera for the 1st ten days of the month 4 times a year.  So I have a quarterly "period."  Since it seems to be recommended to continue the progesterone while cutting back the estrogen, how can I do this when I'm only taking the progesterone quarterly?  Would it be OK to just stop it all cold turkey?  I don't care if I have a few hot flashes.  They didn't bother me that much anyway.  I only agreed to the hrt after my doctor bugged me for two years to start it, since I had an early menopause and I'm the "osteo type."  Please advise me!!

I am also in your catagory so maybe this will be of some help, as advised by Dr. Lee, he recommended me to immediately get off the  Provera ,(medroxyprogesterone) which I took the last 12 days of the month, I also take the Premarin everyday, of which I was on a high does he recommeded to avoid withdrawl type reaction, it was best to gradually, over a period of 4 months, reduce my dose of premarin. So I have started weaning myself my taking Premarin every other day for a month,  every 3 days  the second month and the last month every 4 days, I will be done at the end of August. I have started using Progesterone cream immediately form the 12-26 days of my cycle. I have had a few headaches during the second week, but  I am getting less and less,  a few warm flushes have returned. If you want to chat about this email me anytime, Cmeldog@aol.com
