Full Version: How long for bioidenticals to work for foggy brain

Hi, all,

just started using bioidenticals on Saturday. Does anyone know how long it takes for the estrogen to help with mind-numbing brain fog? I have a history of depression, but must admit that with the addition of menopause, it has become disabling. I can't work, think or experience anything pleasurable. I can't take antidepressants b/c the side effects induce panic attacks.

Anyway, don't want to sound like a downer--just hoping someone has some thoughts.

Thanks!

My bioidenticals started working pretty fast. I hope that things kick in quickly for you!

Colleen, for me the bios started working within the first 3-5 days. I remember being a little on edge the first couple days but then slowly began feeling better. What's your dosage? Mine was 2 mg. Estradiol and 200 prometrium when I started out. Since then I adjust the dosage depending on symptoms. I've been taking bios over a year now and the brain fog is much much better.
It's turned into an interesting science experiment journaling my symptoms on a calendar over the past year. I'm a die hard crossword puzzle/ Scrabble game lover and it's amazing how easily I can problem solve on the 25 days a month I take the bios. Whereas the five days I cycle off them my mental clarity goes to mush. It's hard to believe a little pill can have that much power over the mind, but it does.

Good luck Colleen. I hope the fog clears soon and you're seeing sunshine again.

Hi, Relliea,

I'm in second week of bios -- am taking 2grams per day of estriol/estradiol, 75 mg. progesterone, 1/2 gram testosterone. I'm taking continuous -- have noticed some improvement (50%) in mental clarity -- still having milder hot flashes and tremors. -- I love crossword puzzles, too, but have been unable to them. Thanks for responding.
