I am in my mid-50's and first experienced a nightsweat some 2+yrs ago. My situation has been complicated by the fact that I was A year on from that experience and the nightsweats were not abating despite telling my doctor/consultant. To cut a long story short - last june (2006) I felt a lump in front of my ear. I fought to get the medics to take me seriously. I had it eventually removed (doctor said: he'd eat his hat if it was anything sinister) and was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma G1B Stage 3, of which nightsweats are a feature/symtom. I've had Rchop21 chemo and radiotheraphy. The nightsweats ended some two weeks after the last radiotherapy treatment. Then wham, they have returned with avengence about a week ago. I am soaked from head to toe and have to change myself/bed at least 2 times a night. I'm very tired and low. Are the nightsweats hormonal and linked to the menopause or linked to cancer again.

Hi I am sorry to here about your illness, it must have been awful for you, I dont think any of us are qualified to answer your question really, as you have had major health problems, I would say go back to the Dr and get checked out if you are unsure of anything night sweats are a problem with meno. but for you, having had problems before need to be 100% sure, and to be honest i think whatever we say will not really put your mind at rest, you will only get anxious with worrying, so book an oppiontment and go now, saves having to worry about it, you will end up going eventually the anxiety and worry always gets the better of us, so why not skip the days of worry and do it today. One way of being totally sure.
Take care

Truffy,

Let's cross our fingers that your symptoms are menopausal, but your medical history warrants that you seek further investigation to be sure it does not have anything to do with your treatment or disease. My father had non-Hodgkins lymphoma, so I appreciate what you're going through.

Best wishes,

Helio
