Someone on these boards told me that 5HTP had really improved her energy levels. I rushed right out and bought some because I am having awful fatigue! Now I read that you should not take it if you are on an SSRI antidepressant. I take Zoloft and wondered if I should hold off on taking the 5HTP. I called my doctor to discuss it but he is out of town until next Thursday. Anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks,

My doctor just put me on 5HTP and I am also on Wellbutrin. I know there are some A/D's that you are not suppose to take with 5HTP. I am sorry I don't know which ones but I wouldn't take it until you find out. My doctor did tell me which ones but I honestly don't remember. I just started it yesterday so it is too soon to know if it will help any.

Hi, 5HTP is contraindicated with AD's which involve Serotonin reuptake e.g., Prozac and Zoloft. Wellbutrin is a Dopamine reuptake. Run a google on 5HTP and you will come up with contraindications.

Dont take them together! You'll risk a condition called 'serotonin syndrome'. (too much serotonin in the brain). At least that's what one psychiatrist told me...
