Snow, this is weird. I also used to get a lot of sore eyeball type pain which preceded a migraine. My doctor said there was no link as the blood vessels are completely different. Funny how the two often seemed to go together though.
Last time this happened was last June at my sisters 50th birthday party, my eyes were actually initially irritated by someone peeling onions nearby. My eyes became stingy as is normal for onions, then developed this secondary eyeball pain that wouldn't go away for several hours and then i got a 2 day migraine!

Oh
snow - I have eyeball ache today!!! In fact for the last three days. It is in the outer corners of my eyes. They were watering 3 days ago and i had a sharp stabbing pain in the right eye at the same corner. I managed to see an opthalmologist today & she said maybe I had previously had grit in it, but nothing there now. She said it could also be pollen, but it doesn't feel like pollen.

Oh and I have a slight twitch started up under the right eye (which is the worst eye)
Has yours gone yet? Where was your pain?
I did have a migraine just before this started. I wonder whether it is related or not?

I'm not sure if this is the same pain you girls are talking about, but when I get a migraine I get an 'ice pick' pain that goes right straight through my left eye. Sometimes I have to take a cold cloth and put pressure on it the pain gets so bad. My doc said this is a common complaint with migraine sufferers. It's terrible!!!

Hey Snowmoon,
I have had this too. Eyeball pain, that's exactly what it is. Mine was not associated with headaches or migraines, just plain eyeball pain. It stayed with me on and off for months, but I haven't had it in awhile now. I'm pretty sure that it is hormonal just like all the other wierd symptoms that we are plagued with. When will it all end?????

Eyes do feel a little better, not painful everyday but still comes and goes. I do think the prescription eye drops help!
My eyes or vision is just not right, I will see bright spots AND seems like there was something else I wanted to mention but it slip my mine. Oh the aura thing, I had one this morning again. Very slight one tho. Just sick of all the strange things!
Squig: hope I did not jink you mentioning this!

Hi Snow - no not at all! My migraines are hormonally brought on so whether migraine linked or not, I believe mine are definitely hormonal too! Pollen is making the pain worse though. Antihistamine drops are helping. What are your prescription drops snow? Are they antibiotic or antihistamine?

I thought I had an ongoing sinus issue. I too have pain in the right eye area off and on for quite a few years. I thought it was a serious sinus infection, yeast imbalance and maybe allergy. I had allergy test and nothing showed positive. I have had two colonics with intense sinus type headache immediately after. When I boost my adrenal system with supplements, it seems to help the sinus pain. But, I still get annoying aching pain in the right eye maybe every two or three weeks. I also get queasy at the same time that's why I think it's sinus. Flushing my colon, sinus and system doesn't seem to have helped. I never thought it was hormone related.
I find mint tea after lunch seems to help releive both queasy and pressure in the head.

Hi Lily-Claire,
I have the pain in the right eye area just like you on and off for a few years. I definitely don't have sinus infection!
When I have the pain it seems that in the same time a few of my other lovely symtoms get worse, like the ear ringing and the wonderful lightheaded, spacy feeling. When I have this I just cannot stay in bright places with a lot of noice and a lot of people, they make me feel sick.

Don't know if this helps, "Cluster Headaches" has symptoms of pain on one side of the face, with pain in the eye (patients state it sometimes feels like some is trying to poke their eye out of the socket) and headache may come everyday at or around the same time for several days, then disappear only to return the next year. Like I said I don't know if this your situation or not just talk to a lot of people. Go to internet type "medical information" return, it will show show you many sites for medical review. WebMD is there, the Mayo Clinic, places like that. When you get there pick a place and type in "Cluster Headaches" and see if any of it sounds like you. Good Luck!

Hi thought I would update you all. My eyeball pain went on for a couple of weeks. On examination, the optomotrist had said possibly allergy or dry eyes or a piece of grit that had now gone. Well I tried the dry eye drops & the antihistamine eye drops - some temporary improvement with the antih but the pain came back after an hour or so. Then one day I developed really itchy hives in reaction to a virus/ something I ate. I went on the oral antihistamine that lasts 24 hours and my eye cleared up immediately. So it was irritation from something causing it, but anti-h drops weren't enough to deal with it, plus they dried my eyes out. Eyes are fine now!

Hi Everyone,
I too get the eyeball pain (have it right now, matter of fact) however, mine is definitely hormone related. I get this with each period cycle. I also get neck pain, migraine, shoulder knots etc the pain is also in my upper cheekbone/jaw, light and sound sensitivity and nausea. It can last anywhere from 1-4 days. I have no doubt it is hormone related...at least for me anyway. I have had more weird (I am dying of every disease known to man) symptoms since peri started that if I had a dime for every symptom, I'd be a millionaire by now. SIGH! I have resigned myself to living with it all, until it is over (Hoping and praying that it will end someday) and keep hanging onto the hope that the meno "zest" that the postmeno ladies on this site refer to, will be my "reward" for having suffered so terribly for these past 5 or so years....and praying that you will all be there to join me for a celebration of our newly found post joys!
Hugs,
Susan
