Full Version: Nausea is scary

I keep reading what the nausea could be caused from, one of them is a heart attack. All of this perimeno stuff is so scary. I have had this nausea off and on now for the past month. I thought it was related to my period, but now that is over and I'm getting it again. Is there anything I can try besides ginger, Gravol pills, ginger ale?? Has bio identical cream or birth control helped anyone? I am getting so frustrated. I can hardly work or eat anymore!!

Lisa -

This exact thing happened to me recently. I had been having irregular periods for about a year but few other symtoms. Then I started to breakthrough bleed and the nausea came with it (constant) I had a full gynelogical exam including an internal sonaogram which was completely normal. After my subsequent period the nausea left me for about 6 days but has since returned. I had so much bloodwork, a cat scan, an edoscopy, sonos of Liver, gallbladder, kidneys - you name it -- was scared out of my mind but nothing turned up - Hang in there baby you are not alone and sorry to say no I've tried much but nothing helps. If you google nausea and perimenopause you'll get a link to an old power suge chat on the topic with lots of advice from 2005 - I havn't any success with the remedies but you might. All the best - you're not alone - let me know how you make out - am at work now - have to go.

Lisa: I have almost constant nausea. It's the worst thing to try and deal with. See if your doctor can prescribe Fenergan or Zoloft for you. They both work really well. Also, you might want to try keeping a food diary. It's weird how certain foods can be harmless to you all your life and then all of sudden they make you sick. Good luck!

Wow has it been awhile since I have been on this board. Mainly cause I had been feeling more normal. I had several months there where my ovaries quit working. It was great, my moods were great, no pms, no cramps and etc. etc. But now 2 months have passed and for some reason my ovaries decided to start working again. I tell you today I could commit road rage! LOL

Anyway, about the nausea, when is it worse or when do you have it? I have Gerd and have found if it is acting up I have nausea in the a.m. when I wake up. Last week I had that horrible stomach virus and my stomach still isn't back to normal. I have woke up several mornings with nausea. I love Ginger and love to eat Gin Gins. You might be able to find then at your local health food store or you can get them online. Also, my favorite ginger ale is Reed's which is also sold at health food stores. I know ginger ale like Canada Dry or Siegrams doesn't have the ginger like Reed's. If it doesn't list ginger as an ingredient and only lists natural flavorings, I wouldn't count on it having much ginger. Google Ginger beer (not real beer) or Reed's Jamaican Style Ginger Ale.

Hope I helped some and hope the nausea goes away!

P.S. Remember that acid reflux/heartburn can also cause symptoms of a heart attack (been there done that)! I never really had much heartburn until I hit 39.

Hey scase I'm in the Uk but feeling horribly nauseous from a stomach virus. I wonder if it's the same one, despite the distance - these things are often international! Can you describe yours please as it is unusual for me to have a stomach bug lasting more than 24 hours? It hasn't gone into my bowel at all either which normally happens. I was physically sick 2 nights ago but it was preceded by a couple of days of dizziness & sore lumpy throat. Don't know if they were was related but sore throats normally develop into a cold for me not stomach bugs. Just curious as it sounds like your tummy bug is also > 24 hour one!

From Simba 2 In the U.K. I am so glad that I came on the message boards tonight as I get so much reassurance from all you ladies out there. The intermittent nausea has been one of the worse aspects of this horrible menopause experience. When my periods finally finished two and a half years ago the nausea came on like morning sickness and still is hanging around with other symptoms like the hot flushes, night sweats, anxiety. When I was pregnant I felt very queezy for the first three months like so many women but thankfully that went off. This is harder to bear and no baby at the end of it! When I was desperate I tried the oestrogen patch but the progestogen part gave me unacceptable side effects. I did notice however that the nausea for me went and I had a better appetite, however as I said I could not tolerate that form of HRT. I tried another patch a couple of months ago which was a no bleed formula and had to quit that as I felt awful. Coming off HRT also seems to make your menopause symptoms come back worse than ever initially. What with all these new reports coming out over the last week or so I feel totally confused and fed up and sincerely hoping there is light at the end of this horrible tunnel.

I was basically sick at both ends and it did last for 3 days. You say you have a sore throat? You haven't been exposed to strep throat have you? It can cause stomach pain and vomiting in children but not sure about adults.

Hi stephanie,
No it's not strep - it was more of a lumpy soreness & went after 2 days. My virus was top half only, but i think is on it's way out at last! Thanks for replying? I was curious to see if the same bug had crossed the channel smile.gif

Great! I know of several people who have had the virus and each of us had it a little different. I only vomited once but some quite a few times and some no vomiting at all. As for me I can handle the "other end" but not the vomiting! LOL

Take care!
