I started Femhrt 1 week ago and still havn't noticed much change. My doctor told me I will feel like a new woman and my pharmacist said I will feel like I'm 19 again. Yeah right. Lol.  I'm 48 years old and haven't had a period for 2 years. Has anyone taken this that can tell me how they are feeling? Thanks, Rhonda

Hi--I am 56 and have had no periods for about 2 years. My ob/gyn put me on FemHrt about that time.  I stopped the night sweats, hot flashes, mood swings, but noticed a lot of stomach upset. I'm thinking it affected my gall bladder.  I stopped taking FemHrt cold turkey(I DON'T recommend this) about 6 weeks ago.  All of the above returned. I am miserable, but the stomach seems much better.  I am thinking of going back on the FemHrt every other day to see what happens. I have never been told by any doctor to have my hormones tested or to use natural hormones.  All this is perplexing! Maybe someday we'll figure it out.

You may night like what I am going to tell you, but UN- fortunately I speak with 100% experience.  I was put on replacement hormone therapy for PMS and then stayed on it until about 2 yrs ago.  This started in 1981 thru till 2003.  Then my OB put me on Femhrt.  No problem taking it regarding side effects, etc.  AND THEN....I had my annual mamogram.....1st one - screening mamo.  Saw something they didn't like.2nd one - diagnostic right side only.Saw something that needed a biopsy.Had a needle biopsy. (in doctor's office w/local shot)  Got good news/bad news.Good news = the little white things were only calcium deposits - not a problem!Bad news - they saw "markers" for something bad. Needed to have a surgical biopsy.  (aka: partial masectomy)Went into hospital (same day surgery) and had the surgical biopsy.Bad news:  LCIS (for life)(Lobular Carcinoma In Situ)(Non-invasive, Class 0 cancer)

Now I find out too late that LCIS is a national epidimic for women who have been on Femhrt and/or any kind of female replacement therapy.  Real bummer! What does this all mean?LCIS is a "cancer wannabe" - not yet a a cancer but wants to become cancer!   HIGH RISK FOR B.C.

So, then I talked to doctors and after taking my personal medical history, family history, age, weight, health issues, etc., into account and I picked from one of these:         1.  Bi-lateral masectomy (asap) with re-              constructive surgeryor:       2.  Take Tamoxifin and have DIAGNOSTIC mamos every six months, self exams every now and then and an annual physical at your oncologist (cancer dr.) once a year.

I am stuck with #2 for the rest of my life.   However, the Tamoxifin is so strong (20 mil/per day) that I cannot even handle it.  My oncologist said I could just take 10 miligrams each night.

I also take Black Cohosh with the Tamoxifin(250 mil) to help with the "flashes" - it works really well and is a non-RX, over the counter jell cap.

If you need more info on LCIS, log onto the internet and type "lcis" in the search on yahoo and you will have a wealth of information on it.

Forewarned is forearmed!  Some others with LCIS had to get the bi-lateral masectomy right away.  I was one of the "lucky" ones.  Hope this helps someone to find out more about Rx pills and maybe they will seek a less dangerous way of treating night sweats, mood swings, hot flashes, etc.  Check out the natural things like Evening Prim Rose, Black Cohosh, vitamin E, etc., before you wind up with LCIS like me!

CarolinaMom,I'm so sorry to hear about your health problems.  It s*cks.  I wonder if any doctor will ever tell you your problems stem from HRT?

I took femHRT from Fall 2001, until last week.  Actually, 3 weeks ago I started to wean myself off it, every other day.  My new gyn said OK to quit it.  I'm just taking 100mg Prometrium daily.  No estrogen, unless I "flash", then I'll probably do black cohosh, flaxseed oil and evening primrose oil.Back to femHRT,  since I began it, I've lost  at least one-third of my hair, my sex drive is gone and I have dermatitis, itchy skin, a lot.  Also, about 15-20 pounds added, a lot of it in my mid-section!

I wish I had read Discover your menopause type by Joseph Collins, ND.  He explains hormones in a way that is understandable,.  And also tells women HRT  should be the  last thing done, when more natural methods don't work.Hell, I wish I knew about power surge before I started femHRT.
