Ladies,

I jsut want to know how many women here walk around in this weird spaced out, detached, withdrawn, OFF BALANCE, not "myself" feeling ALMOST EVERY DAY????!!!!!!!! Plus, my sinuses, UGH! Every symptom in my head is on the LEFT SIDE only,
the sinuses, the head tingling, the burning sensations, the sinus pressure...ALL ON THE LEFT! anyone else with head problems only on one side? EVERYDAY I have sinus now, I have to take Benedryl about twice a day right now. The off balance thing is fairly new to me, I've been dealing with it now for about 2 weeks, but the last few days have been better. I also feel as though my left ear (see, left side again) is "hurting", almost like it's about to go into an earache, but doesn't. It's not bad pain, just a little annoying. I haven't felt like ME in about 2 mos. now, and the last month has been the worst of that. I just can't seem to get myself out of it. You can't "snap out" of it so to speak, which then makes me get anxious. It's as if my inner self has "shut off" let say....that's the feeling. So, you try and you try to bring yourself back, to be "here", not detached, not in some kind of dream like state....and you can't. Is that indicative of some kind of hormonal drop?

ok, well, that's the question, I'm really curious as to how many women here LIVE LIKE THIS EVERYDAY, for long periods of time, like I do. Because, you just know, my mind shifts into overdrive, and starts thinking the worst,,,oh, and that's ALSO a new thing for me, I was NEVER like that, I always thought of the best, not the worst....so, there we go!

thanks girls! sincerely, mydarling

Hi Mydarling-- Yes, it is indicative of some kind of hormonal drop.
I don't live like this everyday but I certainly live like this the 5 days a month when I don't take my estradiol and prometrium. I can't believe the awful changes in head pressure, sinuses, tingling, tilting, brain fog I feel within 24 hours of stopping the E & P.
Once l quit taking them I feel like I'm floating outside my body. It's NOT a good feeling. I've learned thru the peri-process to give myself permission to take it easy and not commit to many outside obligations.
My family knows I need quiet time with no demands so they're pretty good about giving me the space to heal.
I can't imagine experiencing this spacey/detached feeling day in and day out for years. I feel empathy for all the women who do. It's very sad seeing so many previously vibrant women feeling so helpless and alone when they should be getting help from their healthcare providers. I do realize how lucky I've been to have found a GYN and nurse practitioner who are up to date on bio-hormone treatment.

As for your sinus issues, have you tried using an over the counter nasal saline solution? It helps alot with opening everything up.
I had many years of ear/sinus/vertigo issues before starting on bioidentical hormones and it was awful so I feel your pain.
I'm convinced all of it was related to the drop in hormones since I've kept a symptoms journal for over a year now and it's only on days 1-5 when I'm not taking hormones that I have all these weird symptoms.

I know this is a difficult place to be mydarling, but try to relieve your stress by breathing deeply/slowly exhaling, get in at least 30 minutes of exercise 3X a week (walk, yoga, free weights) and replace negative thinking with positive thoughts.
Good luck to you and all other women traveling this path.

thank you rellia, it's good to know that's related to some kind of hormonal drop....i had a feeling it ws, but wanted to make sure.
i want to try the estradiol and prometrium, what are they exactly, is that HRT? I was thinking progesterone cream, but I don't really know what I'm doing along the lines of hormones, I mean, I don't know if I should have estrogen or progesterone, or what!!!!!!
Now, if I talk to either my primary care dr. he knows NOTHING about peri and hormones, and scoffs it all off.....then we have my GYN, who, is SOMEWHAT more informed, but not to much, and I'm the one sitting there telling HIM about all this,,,,,but of course , he then has to act as though he knew that (you can tell he didn't), and still tries to make "light" of the hormonal idea as being the culprit for so many of these symptoms.....I've been told by him that testing my blood for any hormonal imbalance is useless right now since I still get my period every month and in that case, hormonal levels fluctuate way to much so he feels it would be pointless. I know I've heard that before, and I"ve read that myself on some med sites, so maybe he's right.....then again, there are plenty of women here who would disagree, and who've had the luck of having a GYN who DOES think the hormone thing matters and they get their blood tested, and BINGO, sure enough, it does show up that they are low in estrogen, or whatever.....

question: ok, are the progesterone creams any good.......which are the better ones, and what happens if you use to much?

thanks girls!!!!!! sincerely, mydarling

I had a very bad week(check my posts about a week ago)I felt like my world was all grey,no living color.I felt that way till one night I spotted a little bit, then I started feeling better,so it was definately hormonal.I prayed a lot,and I did some soul searching and discovered that I am adding to my problems by worrying way too much.I am now trying to take an approach to life that is more easy going, and I feel better.Oh, I know I will have bad days, especially in my cycle, but I am not going to allow anxiety to ruin my life if possible. My little girl is suffering with allerhies, she is on Zrytec and nasonex, they help a lot.Try and get a prescription for nasonex,it helps open your passages.GOD bless.

Yes, almost every day 24/7 for about 7 years....but I also had a thyroid problem prior to peri that also gives the spaced out foggy head. Sinuses will do it too, and you may find getting help for the sinuses will take away the fuzzy headed feeling...I don't know that by experience caue I don't have sinus problem but I have read that on sinuses forums...yes, guess it is hormonal...trying to get help for this myself! RellieA,

If you feel so awful when you stop taking it those 5 days, why do you stop? Is this something your doctor recommended?
I've been on both continuously for a year with no issues.

Just wondering...

Hi Mrsb76-
My doctor has given me two options, either cycling 5 days off each month or cycling every two months. Once a month works better for me despite the awful side effects. The few times in the past when I took E & P continuously the bloating was terrible. Plus I was sloughing off huge clots during my period and every bone in my body ached.

Despite the foggy brain, sinus issues, detached feelings, I'd rather get a period each month than experience the heavier bleeding, bloating and anemia I was having on the 2 month cycle. So I guess it's a trade off. I'll deal with the awful symptoms for 5 days as long as the other 25 days are healthy ones. This cycling kind of reminds me of when I was a teenager and had to stay home from school 2 days a month due to severe cramps & migraines.
Perhaps I'm reliving my adolescence?!

I'm happy to hear you haven't had any problem taking bios continuously. You're a lucky lady!

hi Mydarling, I think you should consider progesterone cream. I've had many of the symptoms that you've described - the pounding heart, dizzy off-balance feeling (all the time...), sinus, ear pain, sore throat only on one side....I really thought I was going to die at times. Doctors couldn't find anything wrong & prescribed anti-anxiety & anti-dizzy pills - which I didn't take. Don't know if you've read Dr. John Lee's book - the perimenopause one but it explains a lot about hormone imbalances.
After 8 months of feeling terrible, I decided to try the progesterone cream. Been on it 2 months and really truly feel 100% better. Feel a little dizzy when I stop using the cream the week of my period but that's it. I suggest reading his book if you haven't. Also he recommended the cream I'm using. It's called Serenity cream by Health Sciences & you can order it online.
I understand what you're going through & hope you start feeling better. I know it's awful. Take care! Samantha

hi ladies,

thank you all for your replies, at least I don't feel as frightened as I did before! I sort of knew it was peri, but the very fact that it seemed to continue EVERYDAY was a little alarming. Samantha, I will try that cream you suggested! I wonder if I can buy that at the health food store here, I'll check.

For some unknown AMAZING reason, the last few days have been "good"! LOL...hard to believe! RIGHT NOW anyway, the off balance feeling is gone, I feel a bit more like "me", you know? (not as detached either)...but I will definatley try the cream!

thank you all! Sincerely, MyDarling

I just read Mydarling's post about one-sided sinus issues. I have a weird symptom that I think is sinus, but the doctors don't seem interested in pin pointing the root cause of it. I will get a strange feeling on the left side of my body from time to time. I will feel a very warm feeling on my left side starting in my head and moving down my arm and then leg. It is like the warm feeling you feel after drinking a glass or 2 of wine. It is not a bad feeling at all. Then directly following that sensation, I will feel a cool sensation. It is kind of like the little game we used to play when we were children where we would hold our wrist real tight and cut-off the blood circulation, then all of a sudden let go and let the blood rush back in our hand; only this sensation is all down my left side. Sometimes I will get it several times a day, and other times it will only occur a couple times a week or month. It has been more like daily the last few months.

Has anyone had this strange feeling? Like I said, for some reason, I just feel it is my sinuses acting-up, but it does concern me.

Hi Happ,

yeah, see this LEFT side thingy is strange, isn't it? I still want to know how many women here get problems only on their left side! I think I'll just make another thread about that. As far as that feeling you get, yes, I've had that too, and it really isn't a "bad" feeling, although it makes me nervous, or it used to, at this point, I'm almost NUMB emotionally because I've gone through so many scary symptoms in the last few months, petrified I was dying .....that now I'm just sort of numb, just "existing' really, not really "feeling". It could very well be your sinuses, apparently they can do some wild and crazy things! More than I thought!
Being that it starts in your head, I would think sinus, but then again, it could be hormonal, since I've come to realize that a lot of women here, including myself, have lots of "head" problems, and sensations due to hormonal fluctuations .... so it's anybody's guess! LOL...it really doesn't sound like anything serious, I wouldn't worry about it, it could even be your teeth for pete sake! Yes, a friend of mine who is a nurse told me that. I had this same sensation in my legs for 2 straight months, Jan. and Feb. ... it wasn't nice actually. It kept feeling as though the blood was being cut off to my legs, and then would rush back in. I ended up in the ER twice because of that...only to be told it was "nothing", or that it was hormonal. Now, what you're experienceing is at least not uncomfortable, so that's good. I know these sensations are truly weird and scary, and it seems that in order to just sort of live on, and not panic every moment, you have to kind of "shut off" emotionally and try to ignore them the best you can .... although, that doesn't sound liek such a great life, either!

I hope this helps you a little anyway .... one question, do you take anything for the sinus? and does it help that feeling?
I have to take Benedryl usually about twice a day....the left side of my head gets "weird", it feels stingy, burning, pressure, .. just plain weird and sinus related ... the Benedryl does help me.

Peace. Sincerely, MyDarling

MyDarling, I have taken everything for sinus and allergy. Usually I can keep it under control, although I did get the worse sinus infection of my live in Dec. I went to the doctor 3 times, once to Urgent Care, and once to an ENT. I ended-up on Prednizone (a steroid) for a month. However, I had been having that strange "left-side" feeling for years. I guess we will just endure because the doctors don't seem to want to find-out the cause. As they say: What does not kill us will make us stronger! Thanks for your comments.
